Post by: untouchable on May 13, 2002, 07:26:31 pm
I have been working on this for at least three hours now and will continue to work, adding more details as I go. ;7

Not only does it have a kewl exterior:

And super kewl turrets:

But it also has an interior (for animation purposes)

Pretty kewl eh? ;)

I guess it's just super cool. :D
Yes, when Zeronet gets here....dunno if I'm gonna wanna see how happy he's gonna be.

[hint]So are you going to release this so that everyone can render it or are you keeping it for yourself?[/hint]

Nice work there. I'd just advise you not to leave all the material/mapping work for when it's done, it might get a bit too complex then...

Three things:
1) You do realise that 'high-poly' is generally used in reference to models in excess of 50,000 polys (for ships anyway).
2) Don't add innards to models unless they can be seen easily from outside. It just takes longer to render, save and play with them. Make internals as seperate scenes and place them on the main ship model if/when needed.
3) RENDER THE DAMN THING!!!!!!!!! What's the point in having one of the best 3D programs around if you're only going to post screenshots of the models you make with it.

1. Easily over that
2. You can see them and the hanger is part of the ship, thus it can be used for animation.
3. There are no textures on it, why waste the time to render it when you can get a better feel for the model while the wireframe is applied to it..........

Hmm, thats pretty cool.  I like the turrets (though i generally think carriers shouldnt have many), they make a nice change, plus the shape of its surface is intresting (those indents especially).  Wish i could model...

As for the inards, i think it would be pretty intresting to have a ship you can fly inside.  Or even through.  Imagine a shivan carrier causing havoc, similar in its storyline to the Sath or lucifer, a few brave GTVA pilots, fly into the mouth of the carrier away from the turrets, target a fighter sitting on its deck, release your bombs, and fly out the other end, just dodging the shockwave from the greatest threat to human existance.
:sigh: , wish i had the time to make a campaign.

plus you would need a mod to get fighters to sit on the deck.  Or maybee they could be classed as turrets?  Now theres and idea.

Mmm, you must have very different modeling methods than mine...

To add more to the last picture, I think I will release the mesh when I have completed it as a community project because I don't have the time (or the skill :() to texture this model..... so I was thinking that the HLP community could do it for me :D

Anyway, back to work..........
