Title: Joystick playing silly buggers
Post by: diamondgeezer on May 14, 2002, 12:33:32 am
Hey all, here's a joystick related question for you. Although my ole Saitek ST110 is setup fine, and ran perfectly up until today, it seems to have dissapeard from FS2. The launcher only displays 'none' in the list of sticks, despite the stick and gameport being set up OK.

FYI I'm running WinXP and I have all the updates. It did use to work OK on XP, it just suddenly stopped working after I created a new pilot...

Any suggestions?

Dunno. Try to recalibrate the stick. Maybe it will help. Or just reinstall freespace...

FreeSpace 2 draws the joystick info straight from Windows.  Goto settings, control panel, game controllers.  Make sure its there and working properly.  Then get FS2 to redetect your joysticks.

Do any other joysticks work with FS?
Also, you might try reinstalling FS (Remember to backup pilots/mods/missions though )

plenty of them.

I have an old simple thrustmaster (2 buttons, throttle) and a kick-ass 4 kg Guillemot Force Feedback Joystick wich can be used by lefthanded people. Both work.

And I have a Gravis Phoenix and Saitek X45. The former was used till buttons started wearing out (and is still hooked up but not installed in the control panel currently) and the latter is my replacement that I don't like as much. :)

The Gravis Phoenix IMHO is the best joystick for games like this and in particular the Descent games. :D

Heard this problem before.  Pretty sure redecting the joysticks will actually work and refreshing the list in WinXP's GameControllers window doesn't hurt either.
