Literally. I'll start off:

Why do you have shortcuts to programs you have in the same folder?

And why do you still have the BP files out of your blueplanet folder (or if they're in there already, why do you have more)?

EDIT:  And what is the whole point of this?

^&^)*&^)*&^)*&^()*&^)*&^

look at all the old frakking builds

and what's with all the shortcuts

and why do your vp files have a wordpad icon

and why is homesick.vp in your main folder

and why is DEM.vp in your main folder

homesick and that booger500 campaign do not belong in the main folder

bluaaghaghaghghghhhhhhh *aneurysm*

Pointing out people's mistakes is part of the fun (also, I made the shortcuts so I can use FRED with different mods. Isn't it how you make a Blue Planet mission and stuff? Otherwise, I don't really care).

So everyone, let's post our folders and let other people point out how idiotic we are in arranging files!

FRED loads mods from your launcher6.ini (the ones you select in the launcher) now at 3.6.12.

[EDIT] frankly, DEM and Homesick don't edit anything IIRC, so they'd be fine in your main folder, even though doing that is a very bad habit. The bigger problem is that VP FILES have a NOTEPAD icon- were you opening them with notepad?

and if so, were you editing them?

and if so, STOP

What's left of my FS2 folder, eh. No point scrolling to the other end because it's just one or two more .MVE files.

Their own folder

But if I do, I'll have to select them from the Launcher, and the launcher doesn't recognize them as "Mods"?
Title: Re: Post your FreeSpace folder
Post by: General Battuta on May 22, 2011, 01:33:58 am
Yes it does

(you might need to add a mod.ini though)

Err, yes it does. If Homesick is in \freespace2\homesick\ , you can use the Launcher to select \homesick\ as an active mod. -> The Launcher recognizes them.

Umm... okay?

Something I imagine would be much more interesting would be the shell script I use to launch FS2_Open, lacking an actual launcher:
Code: [Select]
#!/bin/bash
cd ~/FS2_Open
xinit ./fs2_open_3_6_12_INF_r -spec -glow -env -mipmap -nomotiondebris -missile_lighting -normal -3dshockwave -img2dds  -cache_bitmaps -dualscanlines -targetinfo -orbradar -rearm_timer -ballistic_gauge -ship_choice_3d -weapon_choice_3d -3dwarp -warp_flash -snd_preload -fps -height -mod mediavps_3612 -ambient_factor 10 -no_emissive_light -spec_exp 7 -spec_point 0.6 -spec_static 0.8 -spec_tube 0.5 -ogl_spec 50 -nograb -res 1600x1200 -- :1 -xf86config xorg1.conf

Heh, I ended up adding a new hard drive to my home rig that is solely for FreeSpace stuff.

It contains all my projects, source files and the FreeSpace install with mods.

The majority of this space is Blueplanet though, redundancy of me keeping a svn folder and the original install files etc.

Anyone have a shot of a stock FSO Installer install?  "The Works" and nothing else?  Well, I'm looking for three campaigns that failed, Homesick, Shivans, Twilight -- I want to know what the mod folder names are and how the files inside the directories are named.  Trying to make some mirrors here.
