What were you going for Ryx? It looks, from the side, like you were after a capship, but from the top and rear it looks like a fighter.

If you want to lean toward a fighter, slenderise that nose. If you're after a fighter, tone down the side bits some.

Well, not a fightercraft. Something else.

Carve an engine section at the rear end of the main body, increase the vertical assymmetry and add some details to the nose section. It looks like some sort of strike capship to me, maybe you could make it a bradside dueller or something similar.

Get rid of the winglets, but keep the side bits. That's will bring the top profile in a bit, give it a more 'chunky' appearance. Styxx' idea of a broadside dueller is a great one, especially since you've put so much care into the detail.

I would do something to soften the severity of the blunt nose some. Rather than making it more symmetrix vertically, though, I would likely cut in at the bottom.

I don't thibk I'll keep all of the modifications - wings stay, for now.

I somehow really like the design of this one. Would make a great cruiser in my opinion. ;) (or if the scale permits, destroyer, with some added details)

Oh, Ryx, I forgot to ask: how many spotlights are you using in that sphere network? And how large is the sphere?

Let's see. 52 spots. With about 5 shiplenghts in radius. :p
I just resize if I have to. As long as the object is within the lightcone really.

Are those evenly spaced around the sphere, or is there some other arrangement?

You sure have a lot of lights there. :D

And about the ship - I'd ditch the new extrusion on the top of the frontal section, and make the engine recession on the back less deep and wider. :)

Absolutely.

Oh, and thanks for the screenshot, Ryx. I'm going to do a custom foley in Lightwave for that same sort of thing. :)

I'll tweak the engine recession, as for the rest... We'll see.

To make it look like a cruiser:  remove the small wings, and remove the hump at the front since it looks like a cockpit.  Oh and the hanging down bit

To make it look like a fighter: try making the front narrower, but only about the top cut.  Infact make the cockpit area as wide as the cut.
Otherwise it looks pretty good, i like the rear section, top and bottom. :)

Excellent ship...somehow reminds me of something out of Homeworld. :)

The level of detail on it and the number of engines seems to suggest to me a powerful strike corvette (larger with more firepower than the Deimos) or a destroyer.  I like the downward 'tail' but the hexagonal thing underneath looks a little blunt - unless it's a makeshift fighterbay...

about removing stuff that makes it look like a fighter... don't forget that when mapped, it won't look that way.

Name suggestions :

GT(Fill in class) Agalia (Means "happy")
GT(Fill in class) Aidoios (Means "honored")
GT(Fill in class) Eda (Means "generation")
GT(Fill in class) Kyros (Means "Master" )
GT(Fill in class) Leksi (Means "defender of men")
GT(Fill in class) Pancratius (Means "supreme ruler")

I couldn't think of any more.

BTW : the names are all Greek.

Looks like a clipper or light trading frigate to me. Lose the hangar-ships big enough for one of those look better chunkier, and that one looks like it'd be too good at zipping about to be something huge.

And depending on how you skin it, you really might not need anymore. Something like the Orion scheme (sides plated, extruded inner edges something more delicate-ideally piping) would look good with all those extruded surfaces sticking out.
