This is one of the ships that was mentioned in WoD1 a few times, but Spoon seems to be preoccupied with making other models amongst other things. So, I decided to take this into my own hands and model it myself. Armed with what little canon information there is of it (it's implied to not only be rather big and durable, but also rather important as well) and some idea of what ships that aren't carriers are designed in between the T-C War and the Hierarchy War (Focused forward firepower, though I remember Spoon saying something about the Knight having some pretty decent broadside power as well), I finally decided to get off my ass and model the Knight.
So, some pics of what I've got so far:

For a size comparison, the LSF Crusader is there which is ~714 meters. I'm thinking the Knight will be 1,000-1300 meters long. I hope people are happy to see this, though someone's gonna say it looks phallic. But, considering 4 of the 6 current LSF capital ships looks rather...suggestive themselves, I don't think its design is all that out of place. :p

Looks awesome, can't wait to see it finished.
I wonder what Spoon has to say about this design. :)

You know, if you put bow doors on the beam again there better be a cutscene of them opening, because I almost didn't know they did that in WoD1 either. :P
-
make it an iris-style beam door
i wonder if fso would like that
-
There better be beam doors, lest people confuse that for a fighterbay.
Awesome job, Andrew!

Hmm...it is a pretty good model, but...something seems off. The shape of the vessel, perhaps. Maybe the bow/front half of the ship should be...well...'sharpened' a bit or something. It's a bit too round, but that's my opinion. Hope you work good on the superstructure! Make the slopes more gentle too!

I came to the same conclusion. The model was a bit round for an LSF ship, especially on sides. So I flattened it out there. Along that, I've taken in Axem's input he gave me and made the ship a lot smaller. Probably going to be no longer than 1,000 meters long now.

I really think it looks a lot better now. Oh, Droid, I'll think about adding an iris door, but you're going to be helping me then. =p
Now, I'm debating with myself whether I should or should not give this thing a small fighterbay (well, four fighterbays since it's quadralaterally symmetrical), but I want to keep as a battleship. Should I just do it or leave them without fighterbays?
-
Depends. Is there an LSF fleet carrier in the works? :P

There's the Champion, which is pictured in the middle of the three ships, but that's around the same size as the GA.
-
Hmm, that's an awesome update...although the 'mouth' of the ship looks kinda odd and you might wanna do something to make it 'blend' into the hull better for the beam cannon.
Well if it's a battleship, you could give it a small fighterbay or two. Unless you're mounting some forward-facing beam cannons or stuff on the 'wing stubs', you could put the fighterbays there, maybe for two fighters each.
Oh, maybe add some wings to it. I've come to learn that sometimes when you put wings on something, it looks better. I don't think you'd have to make the wings too long, unless you wanna mount VLSes on it.

Isn't the GA basically a fleet carrier.
It's mostly hangar anyway.
-
Like I said on IRC, you really need to clean up the mesh, there's a ton of redundant faces on the model.

Guardian Angels aren't deployed to the entire LSF, only the graduating classes of the Academy. I wonder what the new GA's designation-name is.
-
Knight was said to be an LSF battleship, I'd advice to keep it without fighterbays and make it slightly longer, because battleships start at 1001m+.
1100m would most likely work best.
-
isn't the crusader in that cathegory?
Also, will we get to witness that cordi battleship mentionned in WoD 1?
-
How about putting missile launchers on the "wings"? Something like the Skirmisher has at the front.

In that case I vote fighterbays, but small ones. Sufficient hanger space for organic escort, like a Karuna.
-
This may be a good idea, but then, I'll suggest to add only two instead of four (despite symetry, this can be done).

lol super cockship
inb4 the thing about how it can **** entire star systems
Ah, you mean that excession line I keep throwing around?
Ulver laughed. 'It looks,' she snorted, 'like a dildo!'
'That's appropriate,' Churt lyne said. 'Armed, it can **** solar systems.'
^ That?
And looks awesome AoD, I hope you end up making some of the other ships that got mentioned but were never modelled.

Next thing you need are blob turrets that shoot supository-shaped projectiles. :P
In all seriousness though these ships look awesome.
-
Lookin' pweety.
Though, kill those unneeded faces, they're taking up pollies that can be used for things that go pew, boom, and kaboom!
So how many turrets you think will be outfitted on this?
-
It should really be noted that two of the three ships in those pics are by Spoon, not Andrew...
-
The hulls looks a bit too smooth, so I'd expect many of the guns are not added yet. Definitely look much better when the paintwork is done.

I removed some of the edge loops (I work with edge loops because I have a primal fear of n-gons), and flatten out the top a bit and in the progress of it, made the details a lot more obvious. Flat top ships because I really don't want to play with uvec and fvec :p. I'm trying to figure out a good shape for the cannon to be on the outside, but It's not really going well. I'm open to suggestions as to how to shape it.

At least in my mind, the Crusader is more akin to a battlecruiser rather than a battleship, since it's still a fair margin smaller than both the Guardian Angel and the Champion. That said, the Knight will likely have much of the same kind of armament as the Crusader, but in greater numbers, though none of the broadside facing anticapital beams though since, for as far as I can tell, that's something that came after WoD1. I also thought of adding VLS systems to it, but then I realized that the Challenger is the largest ships
After finishing this, I'm probably going to make the LSF Dragonfly, or remake the Guardian Angel so it's less brick and more like the other LSF ships (probably should tackle a remake of the Skirmisher too while I'm at it then. :p). As for the Cordi battleship, I might take a shot at that. We'll see.
-
I think it definitely needs to be a bit bigger. 1300-1200m would be just right for it.
As for guns, make them similar to ones on Crusader.

It's going to be no larger than a little over 1,000 meters long. The size difference between carriers and battleships shouldn't be all that great. Speaking of the Knight:

The Knight is just fresh out of the oven. Thankfully the oven is much nicer to Knights than the beams of an Armageddon. Next part for me is to texture and then to finally...rig it. Texturing is going to be a pain, since LSF ships are not of the style I usually do. I'll figure something out.
/me goes to sift through the WoD files he has.
-
That's what I call a Beam-cannon. If there's another Magical Girl in WoD 2, she should make use of that ship for the DIVINE BUSTAAA!
-
Now I've been texturing it. This was a little tricky to get right, since all the LSF textures are UV maps or really bad maps for large scale stuff. So, I ended up having to create my own from scratch.
And to compare to the other LSF ships that Spoon has made.
The Champion's texture is weird in Silo, though. Must have been a bad import or bad export from Blender, because it looks fine in game. Some things I note myself would be I should probably make the lines of the modular plates a bit thicker. Mind you the texture is far from a finished product though. =p

Looks fine.

We need
Mikuru Misuzu beams.

yare yare
-
hey wheres the iris beam door
-
Hmm, something tells me that the four 'fins' could be used in a v-angle instead of...well...so close together. Probably'll be too much of a pain, but hell...that's a really nice skin. Keep it up, man.
-
We need Mikuru Misuzu beams.
All beam cannon of this size are pink by order of Nanoha Takamachi.
-
There's still tons of unnecessary polygons on the back part, but good work on the mesh and texture.
