It's the long-awaited HLP DC
2010 2011! Black Wolf will be joining us all the way from Australia! The date is Friday, June 10th and the venue is TBD. If you're within travelling distance and would like to join us, please vote!
-
Seriously, only two people? Black Wolf needs to meet the East Coast contingent of HLP!
-
Unfortunate timing for me, I'll be at Virginia Beach that weekend. :[
-
I live like two miles away and if I wasn't such a shut-in I'd let you guys have dinner at my house. Good luck though. Visit the air and space museum or something while you're in DC.
-
Pbhh, visiting your house doesn't matter... the real question is, would you be up for going somewhere in DC?
-
No thank you. Enjoy DC, don't get mugged. The Interational Spy Museum is kind of cool.
-
I don't know if i can go. I have work until 5:30 and it takes about 5 hours to get there. Where are people staying?
If we move it to Cary, NC I can let everyone sleep at my place
-
Unfortunately this particular get-together is constrained by Black Wolf's visit. He'll only be in DC for a short time. Perhaps you can host a HLP NC at a later date. :)
I don't know where Black Wolf is staying, but everyone else will probably be at their respective houses/apartments/abodes.

hey, me too. :)
i live there :P
-
I live about 4 hours away and my brother lives about an hour away but I doubt I could get a day off on short notice. Working nights sucks, then again if I didn't there is no way I could keep building models at the pace I have been here lately.

Holy **** you should see us at the beach then. :)
-
You guys are terrible. This is the first HLP DC that is actually, really, officially occurring... and the only two people attending are me and Black Wolf. He's coming all the way from Australia for goodness's sake!
-
And let's not pretend. I'm likely to be off my tits. I'm pretty drunk right now. If I can make it totalled, you ought to be able to tmake it sober, right?
Fsking Right!
-
You're making me feel bad now. :(
-
Well, in a large part it's Black Wolf's fault. He waited until there was less than two weeks to go before telling me what day he'd be in DC. :p

have you been to VB before? you can't see the water from the boardwalk through all the people.
goob: sorry we suck. nothing personal, but i'm just not interested in making a trip to meet a few people from an internet message board.

It's like me,.........but not.
HIGH FIVE DUDE!!

Two miles :wtf: that's spitting distance, a twenty minute walk. A gentle jog, a five minute ride?
You guys need to PARTY HARD.

/me logs in from hotel internets
Oh yeah, several times. Sure it's a little crowded but it's not THAT bad, plus it's not peak season yet.
View was pretty awesome a moment ago actually, bigass thunderstorm over the ocean. :D
Anyway back on topic I've been wanting to participate in an HLP USA/DC/something for a while but this was just bad timing. So far I've met three HLPers in person and would love to hang out with more. I'm looking forward to pics of goob and BW. If there aren't any I will be very dissapoint. :<
Have fun you two!
-
Nothing personal, you are all bang-up guys, but IRL and internet should not be permitted to mix.
-
NO U
I haven't seen any of these objections over on the HLP London thread. What gives?
Anyway Black Wolf was delayed by a strange laundry situation that seemed right out of a movie, but he and his mate finally showed up and we had a blast. We ended up going to four different bars (although only spending significant time in two) and having all kinds of appetizers and drinks. And then we played impaired shuffleboard and billiards. Black Wolf dominated on both games, which surprised me as I was hoping to see a hamnyurger episode in person... but he said that he had a long way to go before he reached that level. :)
-
Glad you made it happen :D
Now when's #2?
-
Well, judging from the results of this poll, not until Black Wolf comes back to the USA...
-
I'm glad you guys had a good time. :)
I don't agree with Battuta's sentiment at all, but I will say that the reason I didn't really consider going to this was that I don't feel like I know most of you all that well. I mean, you're (generally) really cool people, and I've been hanging out here posting with you for years, but from a personal standpoint, I'd classify you as "acquaintances." It'd sort of feel weird for me to meet up with people at that level in real life, as opposed to certain other people I know online who I've been talking to at length for years about all sorts of personal stuff and would call genuine friends. It's nothing personal at all, just a comfort level thing. :)

As I sit here surrounnded by dangerous yardies, ny pride calls you to hear thisWatch "Pendulum - Jungle Sound..
I fear I may have copied the wrong link

This is how I felt when I first met Galemp in Philadelphia, but it helped that I had already been collaborating with him for several years on FSPort. It also helps if there's something specifically planned -- we met for the purpose of exchanging Lego sets, and we also went to Pat's and Geno's and some dumb art museum.
