Hi HLPers!

I was wondering whether any campaign designers would be interested in having someone (or yet another person) proofread the text in their campaigns.

The text I'm willing to proofread includes that found in
I can check that the text is
and maybe provide some other comments on the side. I use American English, but if the text is un-American uses a different English variant, such as British, I'll try to stick to that.

I can't help with
mostly for lack of either skills (in some cases) or time (in the rest). :(

As for my credentials, besides being a native English speaker... as a grad student, I edit papers, both mine and others'. Of course, you always have the option of using all, some, or none of my suggested changes.

I've played through the entire FS2 campaign and around half of the FS1 main campaign (through FSPort), and I've also read quite a few of the articles on the FreeSpace Wiki, so I have a pretty good idea of how a campaign's text should sound. I also recently started playing BP (which has blown me away) and hope to play through it and other campaigns when I can -- alas, for grad students, work continues throughout the summer.

Reply if you're interested. I'd strongly prefer to receive files that can be edited in a text editor. If possible, I'd also prefer to receive files packaged as a tarball (.tar.gz) or ZIP file rather than as a VP.

Aw hell...so much for going off on people.  I wish we'd get a warning if all of the posts we were replying to were split in the middle of writing a scathing comeback. :p

Gay Vasudan, welcome to HLP, and thanks for your offer to help. There's been talk about starting up some sort of "writer's workshop" around here, but some of the best-qualified people to do so have a lot of other stuff on their plates already, so this would be a great service. :)

Recently, I've edited the grammar, idiomatic, and spelling of two well-known FreeSpace campaigns. They're found under the FreeSpace Restoration Project.

I would like to have more information on the"writer's workshop". My field of study is in Gender research and Human Sexuality: Not in FREDding or modeling. I may be able to assist in character development and exploring human nature.

Thanks for the welcome! I don't think I'd be able to help with a workshop, but I can help with editing. In the real world, writers -- even great ones -- (usually) have editors.

This thread isn't about a campaign. It's about someone who offers his help to improve English in other campaigns.
