Title: Jamendo for possible mod music
Post by: AtomicClucker on June 05, 2011, 11:51:45 pm
As an avid listener to Jamendo music, it occurred to me that much of the music on its service is under the Creative Commons license and can be used for non-commercial projects, and *gasp* is free to use (though check the exact license). A couple of tracks, such as The Signal, could be used in a number of mods, being its got a great techno-vibe going on.

So if you want to sample music, just fire up VLC player select Jamendo from the playlist and browse the selection. You can even save the streams, so its a double win.

Yeah, I've been around Jamendo for years, found many really good unknown and/or independant musicians there. A good place to hunt for a lot of music related stuff.

As such, if we have a list of 'recommended sites to visit when creating your mod' this could prove to be a fine addition to it.

Wow. This site is amazing! Usually, I listen to the limited (but still great) selection of royalty music from Incompetech, but Jamendo is much larger by comparison.

The only thing I can see The Signal being used in is a JAD or DEM mission to be honest.

I wondered when someone would mention that.  There is even a loop section which is perfect for FS

Headdie, it's in my Sig :D

I love the loops and obtained several permissions for use in my old Freespace campaigns from the authors of the top twenty tracks years back. Plus your own goodies are there too. Mah name on Newgrounds was Janus--King.
