Title: I've been thinking and I noticed an intresting trend in BP
Post by: Infamus on June 16, 2011, 10:33:33 am
Laporte = Simon
Ships = Gunmen Well... sort of.
Technology, maybe?
Ter/Vas/Brahmans = Spirals
Shivans = Anti-Spirals
Vishnans = Reverse-Spirals or something? (lulz)

We are only missing two things... Kamina and some kind of sauce.

EDIT: I know it's inane, but whatever.

What the hell? Who's Simon?

Laporte Bei (Vishnans are mentioned implying it's actually AoA) = Alto
Ships = Variable Fighters
Trio = N.U.N.S.
Shivans = Battle Galaxy
Vishnans = S.M.S.

(Or, insert any other theme with appropriate content)
Congratulations you've broken my mind with something that makes less than zero sense. :wtf:

What the hell? Who's Simon?
Gurren Lagann.

No, that's AoA. Switch Laporte with Bei, and it makes some sense.

(Not that it's accurate, you understand. It's just less inaccurate).

While we're on the topic of inane comparisons,

Laporte -> Motoko Kusanagi
Calder -> Aramaki
The UEF -> Section 9
The GTVA -> Kazundo Gouda
Vishnans -> The Laughing Man
Shivans -> Kuze

True, probably should've caught that in the initial post.

Bei = Ikari Shinji

...the rest of it isn't working out at all but hey, pointless analogies are pointless

Laporte is based upon Chuck Norris. Everyone knows that.

Terrans = Terrans
Shivans = Zerg
Vishnans = Protoss
Xel Naga = Ancients

Also, I'm positive that BP was built upon anime premises.

What the hell? Who's Simon?

The protagonist from Gurren Lagann

While we're on the topic of inane comparisons,

Laporte -> Motoko Kusanagi
Calder -> Aramaki
The UEF -> Section 9
The GTVA -> Kazundo Gouda
Vishnans -> The Laughing Man
Shivans -> Kuze

Wasn't Darius the one who started this project, or was it the both of you?
EDIT: Maybe Darius threw some of the anime related stuff in there. Or is this just more proof of Carl Jung's theories?

Darius absolutely started it, no one else was involved at all until War in Heaven.

To the extent of my knowledge there was no real anime influence on any of it.

Ah I see.

Carl Jung is at it again...

Please develop your psychobabble about Jung a little further and enlighten us about what is that reference supposed to mean.

It was just a quip. There was no psychobabble intended.

He believed in a "collective unconscious." It essentially links everyone even if they have had absolutely no contact. This includes ideas, hence Blueplanet's similarities with some anime.

Infamus: Look up meme theory. The "collective unconscious" is an old, old idea.

I think it's more of 'if you simplify anything enough, it becomes homogeneous'

Here let me demonstrate

Blue Planet: main characters are people

Ulysses: main characters are people

UEF = Stalinist USSR
GTVA = Nazi Germany
GEF = Sea Shepherd

NOW IT ALL MAKES SENSE

KEN = THE BLACK COMMAND GUY = STEELE = LAPORTE = HITLER

DARIUS DELETE THIS IF I AM RIGHT

admiral before steele = gandalf grey
steele = gandalf white
Beis = Bagginses
Ring = /set difficulty = very easy
