I have done all that I WANT to do, and think it will be more fun if the rest of the community finishes this, so here is the high poly carrier that I have been working on.
It will be interesting to see what you guys come up with

I'm no modeller so don't expect any miracles from me, but I've got thoughts and suggestions like anyone else so lets get the ball rolling :)
Firstly, great model - nice design, I like it.
I'm not sure what the thing on the left of the ship is (looks like an engine front?) but I don't really like it... then again if it had some kind of graphical goodness going on then perhaps my view would be different... could perhaps use some veins or cable like things going along the edges of it to give it more definition and make it look "enclosed"? Then any glows or anything coming from it would look incredible.
This thing strikes me as needing a Starlancer paint job, kind of a Deimos gunmetal paint coating...
It needs something along the back, to define it maybe - a command centre? The kind you'd find on a typical naval ship might look good.. just something to give it a bit of interest along there.
Since it's high poly - on the bottom how about some torpedo racks? Similar to Babylon 5 gun emplacements or to Mech Warrior 4 battlemech style missile hardpoints. They'd look really impressive swivelling to fire off a host of nuclear missile death ;)
Aside from that I think you've done a fine job on her already - excellent work :)

All things end up Deimos textured. Its a strange habit because the texture is so cool!

The Deimos is the flying brick of death. It's been stated plenty of times.
The only other ship I've seen in FS2 that comes close to the same design is the Iceni. However, all the brown textures and such, along with the curved nose, makes it lose that effect.
But yeah, I do have to agree, it needs some industrial sized rotating missle turrets. In fact, all of the Terran ships should have them. Because look at today's ships, almost every ship has either a set harpoon-style missle launching tubes, a 'cell' of 8-32 multi-purpose missles recessed in the hull, or BOTH. The closest thing to it in FS2 is the Cain/Lillith classes with the large ring areas on the sides where they have the cluster launchers.
Granted, most ships today are gearing towards the missle boat look, but they're more effective than simple bombardment of one-ton shells that only have a range of 20 miles. (16" guns from the Iowa class Battleships. Dunno what the range was for the 19" critters on the Yamato, but it was probably similar as they didn't have the same system the americans did, though they were slower in firing rates.)
Err, back to what I was talking about earlier. Turreted missle launchers! Yeah. Multi-firing pointed, retractable, no-flashy details, just the glint off the plated armor and a shine of the big smiley faces painted on each warhead.... :)

aah... rendering the thing makes it look even cooler.

Uh, untouchable?
Why do those cylinder-like pieces wobble on either side of the tower?
I understand that the guns turn, but WTF are those things?!

Just added details for the fun of it :D
