Sorry for opening an extra thread, but the work you are doing here justifies it.
But let's start at the beginning. A few weeks ago I found the good old Freespace 2 disks and I remembered the fun I had playing it. I installed and tried to patch it. Obviously after so many years the patch-server was offline. So I was looking around for the patch and I encountered the source code project. After several of hours of downloading I finally could start playing. I was astonished as soon as I saw the enhanced graphic (please keep in mind the last time I played Freespace was in 2002). Freespace look like a new game now!
After playing the FS:Port, Silent Threat, FS2 Campaign and Derelict, it did not take a long time for me to encounter Blue Planet. Since yesterday I'm done with Age of Aquarius and I don't know where to start. AoA is absolutely fantastic. Not only the (mission) design, the story, the atmosphere, the music, there is also awesome voice-acting. Therefore it is easy for me to say, that AoA is the Freespace 3 we presumably will never be able to play. If War in Heaven has the same quality I'll enjoy playing it. It might be a slightly difficult to follow every bit of the story, seeing the voice-acting is still in progress, but good things need its time.
I considered sending in some voice files, but I would certainly ruin the atmosphere with my German accent. Seeing the quality in AoA, there might not be any room for my sloppy pronunciation. Maybe I'm too much of a perfectionist here...
But anyway this does not affect your work. Thanks a lot for your good work here!

We actually like accents! Accented delivery helps cover up amateur delivery, so go for it.

Oh, WiH isn't the same quality as AoA. It's even better (aside from the aforementioned lack of voice acting, which will be resolved soon enough).
Recall that there were Space Australians, Space Southerners, and Space French in AoA. Obviously I am not a dev team member, but I see no reason not to have Space Germans. :p

Petition to get the Russian Battlecruiser captain from Starcraft 1 to do voice acting for FS? He'd make a sweet command guy xD

After playing WiH, AoA just seems unprofessional. Not a testament against AoA but the other way around. You'll like it alright.

Well, the developpement of WiH didn't follow the same way as AoA at all. One was made by a whole team of talented FREDers and writers, the other was a one-man job. Taking that into account, I tend to consider AoA as actually more impressive than WiH.

Well I don't. They stand in their own, and BP WiH did a lot of work in the code itself, new ships, new tactics, a whole impressive strategy layout that was both believable and novel.
So well personally I am more impressed by WiH but I get ya.

I remember my ****ty attempts at covering up the Glasgow in me came out as Borat's dull brother. :( Is VA still ongoing for participants? Might record some lines if I find time.
