Before I ran Freespace 2 scp for 2 days without any problems and blew through most of the main campaign and created a few missions. Then, when one time i went to the tech room, mission sim, the screen freezes black lines appear and VPU reset occurs. Sometimes this doesn't happen and when i press esc to leave the mission i'm testing, the same thing occurs. Why did freespace work for two days and then start to crash, the settings have been the same since i started the game.
I have a HD 5670, CCC 10.9
I have set up every high level setting (adv VP) 16x AA
The game itself without my prompts will not crash.

Try disabling AA? Also please generate and post a debug log using the instructions in the support FAQ.

Please read the FAQ stickied here and try to generate an FS2_Open.log.
Also, please consider updating your GPU drivers. The current 11.6 Catalyst drivers are confirmed as stable for FSO.

What particular brand is your HD 5670? My Club3D HD 5770 does exactly that, regardless of the drivers or any other fix I could think of. Though for some flying-spaghetti-monster-forsaken reason, the crashing happens to a lesser extent when using non-INF builds of FSO.

I try to disable aa on my card and the game and variations of. Also i don't want to update my drivers cause when i did last time i got constant ati2dvag.dll errors.
-
Well, the problem is, the error sounds very much like some sort of driver error to me.
Also, please generate and post an fs2_open.log (on the off chance it's an FSO-created problem).

Well, i disabled aa on the video card for the game and did not disable aa for the game and no erros are appearing! Thanks.
