Title: converting COB to 3ds

im trying to convert cob files into files that 3ds max R4 uses.  I have truespace v1 and i save the files as a .asc and a .dfx file and neither open... does anyone know any 3rd party freeware or shareware convertors out there?? i thought there was a 3d explorer or something
