Title: Having trouble figuring out installation
Post by: Widgetewye on July 01, 2011, 01:54:26 pm
I got FSO from gog and installed it. Then reading the linux manual install guide I got to this point and got lost:

For serious graphical improvements, download the MediaVPs.
First, create a new folder called "mediavps" into the FS2 main directory.
Download the following files from the 3.6.10 MediaVPs release thread and place them to the "mediavps" directory:

I didn't find any files to download  in that thread. Where do I get these files to download?

Thanks

It is in the Freespace Upgrade section of the forum, right here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=70736.0).

O rite. Gotta update that part some day.

More plainly than those two up there: 3.6.10 mediavps have been replaced with the lovelier 3.6.12 mediavps, so those are what you probably want  (and what X3N0-Life-Form linked to).

When I downloaded and unzipped all the files they made 2 directories.

MediaVPS_3612
mediavps_3612

Should the contents of these be in one directory or put them in the FreeSpace directory together, which I did.
After running fs2_launcher and setting mediavps_3612 as the mod I can not add any Features in the Features section, there is nothing there to add.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Copy the contents of the first directory into the second (the one with the all-lowercase name).
