Three of us were trying to get together for a coop game, and we're looking at FS2. I see a lot of campaigns that sound really good.
Do any of the good ones have functional coop mode? Its been a long time since any of us played FS2.

Unfortunately, only the FS2 main campaign has been adapted for coop so far. There's also Operation Templar. And that's about it.
-
So, how much of a mess is it port a campaign to Coop?
-
It's much less about mess than rebalancing. With respawns and multiple human players, missions balanced for SP become too easy, not to mention they can get broken in some circumstances.
-
Most casual players would simply be able to jack the difficulty settings up as a quick-and-dirty fix, wouldn't they? Yes, it's not exactly perfect (a bit like how the ocean is not exactly shallow, but nevermind) but for the sake of a bit of fun blowing things up with some friends it might be alright? Possibly?
-
What are you trying to say ? If you're gonna go all the hassle to convert a mission to coop, better do it right from the start to finish, no ?
-
Better, yes, if you want it done properly. I wouldn't like to make a call on whether the extra effort was worth it though.

Yeah, exactly - aren't there still certain sexps which don't work in multiplayer as well? The cutscene and control-player-specific ones come to mind.
Also, no command briefings (although as an interim hack one can shift the command briefing text into the actual mission briefing instead, like what was done with the FS2 campaign - you lose the intel anims though).

Cutscene, has-pressed-key, and many other sexps we wish we had don't work in multi yet, no. It seems no one has taken up and completed this task in the past, though it would be very cool if someone were to do so, so if someone is willing to put in the time and effort it is fully possible to make campaigns for multi.
Obviously if there are plans to convert, the original makers should be asked, and if anyone is intrested in trying but doesn't know how to FRED there are plenty of people on IRC who would be willing to help in addition to the various guides.

After playing Plunder (as example) both as a quick crossover and after matth properly converted it, the difference is astounding and very very worth it. Single player insane just doesnt cut it with 4+ experienced players who also have 5 or more lives each.

How about mantising the ones that don't work instead of expecting me to test every single SEXP in multi and finding out which ones don't work? :p
-
Because I dont know exactly what ones dont work either aside from key-press and cutscene in general (I THINK its reset-camera, but no proof). Believe me, if I knew exactly what ones didnt work I would be focusing on them and not the broad group, which I know is no help.
I was also refering to making campaings, not the sexps. Sorry if that wasnt clear.
