Post by: FekLeyrTarg on July 09, 2011, 08:56:53 am
I'm recording and uploading videos of the Prologue. Here's the first mission:

More missions will follow soon. Enjoy. :)

Thanks. I think it was about time someone made a Let's Play/Walkthrough/whatever for the Prologue and its mods. :)

I realize this is an old topic, however, I felt this question was pertinent.
Did you get a patched version of the prologue that used the flyby feature? Or did you rig up the flybys yourself? I just dug out the prologue again and the version I got still does those annoying still in cockpit time compressed autopilot sequences.

Great videos.  :)

How come your throttle speeds are correct to WC canon, yet mine aren't?  I have the -wcsaga commandline option switch on.

I'm using Talon's 3.6.12 mod (http://www.ciinet.org/kevin/wchf/downloads.html). :)

Ok, that was impressive. Just one problem. I keep getting my ass handed to me by the damn pirates in the second mission, just like the first time I tried the prologue. It wasn't this bad in an actual Wing Commander game.

Guys, we won't give you any support or feedback for mods of our stuff that we haven't authorized or supported in the first place. Prologue isn't meant to be played with 3.6.12.

if you do't like the technical state of that campaign wait a little longer and you'll have the main campaign including a refurbished prologue in your hands. If you don't want to wait any longer please play the prologue as it was released back then. That's the only way we can give you any feedback on potential problems.

In general the AI has been re-balanced in the final campaign but if you have real problems against the AI in the prologue I still suggest you train to improve your skills because the main campaign will be everything but easy.

Have you tried to decrease the skill level?

I was having the same problem in the prologue before 3.6.12. I couldn't beat that second mission. I know the missiles in Wing Commander were good, but they weren't THAT good. And I'm already on Very Easy for the skill level. So, no, I haven't tried decreasing the skill level because I can't.

Well, I admit to getting pwned by missiles in Prologue mission 2 the first time I played it, but eventually, I learned an effective way to evade missiles.

When you have a missile locked on to you, press the keys for afterburner, roll left/right, turn left/right, and pitch up/down at the same time, and when the missile gets close, drop a countermeasure.  You can tell how far a missile is from your ship by the length of the yellow needle.

On the other hand, I've tried to decrease missile-happiness in WCHF by disabling missiles on some enemy fighters.
