Hello, I'm new here and what you've done looks to be impressive work! However, I am having trouble getting it to look anything remotely like the youtube videos/pictures. Here are the steps I've taken;
First, I installed my GOG copy of the game.
Then I downloaded FSOPEN and used it's auto install. I chose "the works" option and it downloaded everything (took over an hour to complete).
Then I followed the instructions here http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Getting_started#The_FreeSpace_Source_Code_Project to the letter.
I then launched the game through the launcher menu, and as soon as it started up my resolution was widescreen. I got all giddy! Then, as I got into my first training mission, everything looked...old. The ships didn't look anything like they did in the youtube videos/pictures, the explosions looked like the old ones, and the warp effect was the same. I went back to the launcher and verified that all my settings were set properly, but the graphics just don't seem to be improved at all. What am I doing wrong here?

Open Launcher.
Open MOD tab.
Click Select MOD.
Select the "mediavps_3612" directory.
Apply changes.
????
PROFIT.
Edit: If you did that already and still nothing, please provide a log (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=56279.msg1180359#msg1180359).

You selected MediaVPs_3612 (or mediavps-3612, I forget what it is) as your mod in the launcher? Check.

Uh, actually some moron had forgotten to write that particular step into the wiki article. :nervous: I edited the article just now to rectify this.
