Title: Music for custom campaigns?
Post by: CyberLemur on July 13, 2011, 06:26:00 pm
Hey everyone! First off, sorry if this is in the wrong place, I'm new...

Anyway. I picked up FreeSpace 2 recently and found my way here, and I was wondering if I could offer my services as a composer to any custom campaigns/mods? It's the kind of thing that would (in my opinion) add a lot to a campaign.

Here's a link to some demo reels of things I've written in the past: http://soundcloud.com/cyberlemur/sets/soundtracks/ (http://soundcloud.com/cyberlemur/sets/soundtracks/)

One thing I will say, I'd rather work on something that's already under development, or at least has a good plan of missions/story etc, since there's not a lot of meaningful work I can do until that's done.

Post here or PM me if you're interested, thanks :)

:Welcome:

Welcome to the HLP

Music is something that is is in short supply here (Probably not far behind the ever illusive enthusiastic UV mapper / texture artist ), given the linked music I am sure someone will ask you for your services soon

you might want to ShadowsOfLight, SoL is the music wizz for Syrk and can might be willing to give you some advice on preparing audio for use within the FSO engine.

I can say one thing, you have a talent for a wide range of genres. I might be requesting your servaces in the future.

Roughly how long does it take for you to roll out a track?

Hmm... I'll do some experimentation myself first, but I'll be sure to ask if I have a problem, thanks for the advice.

That really depends on lots of different things - how much of the track I have worked out beforehand, for instance, and how much the sound needs mixing and balancing at the end. The style of music makes an impact too, I can have a more electronic piece in a listenable state after a few hours, but then I recently spent a week trying to get a 4 minute piece to sound as close to a real orchestra as possible, and that's still not quite finished...

Also sorry for the late reply, my internet's been broken for a while.
