Title: Help on checking and fixing my model ship...
Post by: wasabitoy on July 15, 2011, 10:59:12 pm
Hi everyone and also to the modders...

Please help me to fix my model and also check if there are some problems... It is a .3ds file.  I just can't run or play it when in-game... I already converted it to .pof file but no luck, still a failure.

So I made a backup of my model that has no anything assigned like hierarchy of the ship, etc. other stuffs to be assigned... It is just the model itself...

By the way, I already tried all the tutorials but no luck either. Like assigning hierarchy, other stuffs, etc. , assigning everything...

And the programs are now lacking for FS2... I can't find the COB2POF.exe, other proggy for FS2, etc. ... So it is so hard...

Please volunteer to fix and check my model ship who has skills and experience on creating a perfect ship for the Freespace 2 -> putting or assigning everything that is needed to make the ship run in-game... so that it can run in-game for FSOpen... And I don't know yet what are the list that I want for the ship but first fix it and we will talk about it what are the missing stuffs that I want for the ship will be...

Or does anyone know who is the person that has the skill & exp. on creating a ship for FS2(FSOpen)... Please guide me to him...

I appreciate it guys...

I will send my model to his/her email...

To be honest I really don't know how to make/create a ship for Freespace 2 for assigning some stuffs on the ship even if you give me a tutorial... Please understand me... I just want to make my ship playable in FS2(FSOpen)...

Appreciate it...

Please help...

Thanks in advance...

pics or i don't care
if i like what i see i'll convert it for you

if you'd prefer not to, I can run down what you need to do to convert.
what modelling program do you use.

COB2POF is super old outdated, and runs through TRUE****. Get PCS2 with Collada instead. Get it HERE (http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~samm/pcs2-bsp.7z) once you have a regular install of PCS2.

You should be making the model, gun and thruster points, their helper dummies, and shield in Max. Nothing else.
Every object has to be named properly in Max too, like the shield mesh must be "shield", the ship model detail0, and so forth
otherwise it will not show up in PCS2.

As Droid said, you should be using PCS2, not COB2POF.  Installing PCS2 is covered in the Max tutorial.

The rest of the parts of the ship are setup in PCS2, such as subsystems and paths. That is also covered in the tutorial.

You're not really going to find people that want to do everything to put a ship together for you, as we all have projects of our own.
You really need to learn how to do things yourself if you plan on contributing to the FSO community as a whole.

What is your native language? Perhaps someone here knows that language too so you can converse easily.

Sorry for the late reply Droid803... been busy for the past few days...

And also hello to everyone... Please feel free to volunteer also on helping us to fix the model ship... Droid803 is ready to help...

Lets get it on...

Okay, I am tired and I give up on fixing the model ship own my own cause I am not a good modeler and a texturer... but I tried my best to fix it but no luck even if I follow the tutorials for FS2 modding... I got the ship model from google...

By the way, it is a YT-1300 from Star Wars... Or should I say a Millennium Falcon...

Alright, we need to fix it, create it, texture it (.DDS), add/fix subsystems, add/fix turrets, convert it to (.POF), run it in-game, add/fix the tables, add/fix the maps, whatever and just EVERYTHING a Freespace 2 ship needs in order to run perfectly in-game...

Please help us... we appreciate it...

I attach the .7z files below and a picture... *(.7z files are 3 parts)*... The part 2 and 3 or the part B and C is on my next post...

@ Luis Dias

Yes I know that they have a MF and I think it is finish already... But the question is, when will they release it?

That is why I upload/post the files here for the MF... so there will be a MF already to be used for FS2... IF someone here will help us fix the model that I uploaded...

So please someone help us to fix this YT-1300 and let it be played in-game for FS2...

I know that some people like it too... so please modelers, texturers and converters... help us to fix this wonderful ship...

Thanks.

Alright, what do you need help with. Starting from the top, one step at a time.
Don't say everything, because that's useless.

YOU are going yo LEARN how to do this, so that's how I'll 'help'.

First:

Fixing the textures... I know that the model need separate parts in order to assign the materials/textures... right? Before making it into one object...

I don't know how to assign textures, so please fix it for me...

But maybe let us change the rules... can you lead the way... The way you make models... how do you do it? Maybe we should follow your steps on making your own models... but I think textures first or maybe not?

Do you downloaded the files already?

It has four (.7z) parts... Please check it...

Thanks...

Just one smally nitpicky question. You have the original author's permission to do this, right?

Yes of course. That is why I have the model right now. He said I can use it freely.

I have this model in my possession a long time ago.

It is also okay from the author to use this awesome model for the any game.

My problem really is that my PCS2 program always say "pcs2.exe has stopped working" when I load a .dae import file even I have the option collada (.dae) already installed... but still the program shuts down...

But when I open the program/.exe, it runs perfectly fine... but when loading something... ahh! here it goes... again!...

So I can't really test my work from 3DS Max and can't continue without the PCS2... I don't know why this is happening to me...

Just telling you guys... my problem...  :nono:

Please help for my request...

Thank you...

Brandx0 has done a YT-1300 for Fate of the Galaxy.  Ask him if you can use it.

The problem is that he doesn't want me to use his model right now even it is only just one model I requested for him which is the Falcon... but really, he doesn't want to...

I don't know or I already doubting if they really finished making it or the Falcon is only a wallpaper from their website... Cause it is really looks like a wallpaper and not an in-game of FS2... And one more thing, they don't have any new videos that will show/prove their progress... And it will be awesome if they will release a video of a Falcon in-flight in the game... Just a short clip that will show the Falcon's maneuverability and some real Star Wars actions...  ;7
