I WAS PLAYING A MISSION IN STR AND THE AI HAVE INLIMITED ****ING MISSILES I COUNTED!!!!!!! EVERY TIME I WOULD EVADE IT ANOTHER 4 HORNET MISSILES COME AT ME FROM THREE SHIPS AND I WOULD TELL PEOPLE TO KILL THEM, THEY DID NOTHING.
so i threw my phone and broke it :(((
-
that's not stupid AI its cheating AI
stupid AI is watching AI fighters on escort continually ram another ship. :P
-
lol ya well the disc case said great ai or something... BULL****
-
If you're impressed by what STR's AI can do with hornets, wait until you see how much better they are with EMP missiles than you are.

K, which disc case? Remember that ST:R is a fan-made product, that works with FSPort, which is a mod for FS2, and FSO. Thereforeth, the AI of FS2 is what you've observed.
And I dare you to make a better one.
-
I knew ST:R was good, but I didn't know it was that good.
I mean, causing one to destroy their phone.. that has got to be some sort of campaign record!
-
I agree with Jeff Vader, if you feel the AI is bad, come with good ideas to improve them, or better yet, create a better version yourself. This is not in the negative sense, but usually, things improve not only when people recognize it needs improvement, but also by taking that next step and actually changing or fixing it.

Kills by ship class
Fighter: 42
Bomber: 15
Cruiser: 4
Destroyer: 1
Telephone: 1

Sorry, but that's funny.

Or use Fury AI, a solution already exists.

I think the AI issues have been covered by previous posts in this thread, so here's a tip to spare you some additional frustration down the road.
You know how in the main campaign, sometimes you'll complete all your mission objectives and hit Alt-J only to be chewed out for jumping out without authorization because you didn't wait the extra three seconds for the "Return To Base" directive to appear? And then you have to replay the entire mission.
Well, STR (while it is otherwise a superb campaign) is infamously terrible about this, and to make things worse several of the missions are uncommonly long. Make absolutely sure you get a directive before pressing those two keys.
-
so i threw my phone and broke it :(((
Why rage when you should just man up and kill some adversaries?!

Stuff blowing up makes me happy. And I don't think the can be called stupid because it has unlimited missiles.
-
How do you count to unlimited?
-
Actually he counted to "inlimited". I suppose that is some different value.

 I suppose that's another thing we can pin on our board of accomplishments. :D

Hey, hey, hey, most ST:R missions are very reasonable about when you can and cannot jump out. If you're referring to str10, that's a matter of having a good "sense of smell". And if you're referring to the most recent problems in str10, those are due to a bug someone introduced in recent FSO builds.
If you think this applies to any mission other than str10, please post which one and why.

Oh, I'm just being a dick and giving bad advice. :p

Well, I broke the monitor glass screen covering playing AOE II: The Conquerors.
Sometimes frustration causes us to lose sanity, thus make us start breaking things.

Indeed, but wise people know to vent their hatred on cheap items. I, for one, punch my keyboard, rather than throw a phone in the wall.

I punch the wall for great pain!

Hey, my keyboard is more expensive than my phone!
-
$10 USB Mouse...inexpensive to replace...no wires, so you get great distance...and cheaply made so they explode nicely when they hit the wall. :D Just make sure you have a backup on hand, and aim for the wall with NO WINDOWS!

Maybe he's got a stash of telephones, who knows.

Now I'm picturing early episodes of NCIS where Gibbs kept busting his phone.

I did that once. I broke keys. :(

It's a very bad idea if you're gaming on a laptop.

...THE AI HAVE INLIMITED ****ING MISSILES I COUNTED...
Boyo, boy, do you have patience.
-
Yeah, tbh I'm pretty sure most Shivan secondary banks etc. can store up to 40 of whatever your basic homer is.

Inlimited patience.

Well, Basilisks seem to dazzle the mind with hundreds of missiles, so that can already be mistaken for "inlimited ****ing missiles".
