So, I've been having this odd bloom issue for a while now, which I've just put on the back burner by setting the bloom intensity to 0 in the launcher. The picture below shows it better than I can really describe; look at the limb of Europa and notice the separate bands of light. Qazwsx explained to me on IRC that since the bloom shader is written for square monitors, while I play at triple-screen aspect ratios, I'm seeing the individual horizontal samples used for the bloom. He's whipping up a custom fix for me, but Zacam encouraged me to post this here so everyone could know about it.

EDIT: This is fixed by The_E's newer bloom shaders here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=76904.0). Disregard this post.

I have the same problem with my eyefinity setup
-
So does this manifest on 16:9 too? Or was it designed for 16:9 and has the inverse effect on 4:3?
-
Testing it with both 16:9 and 4:3 shows no significant difference on my end.
-
4:3, 5:4, 16:9, 16:10 don't have an issue.
Astronomiya's issue was with 48:xx (where xx is either :9 or :10), interesting to know if 4:3 triple monitor (12:3) or 15:4, or even dual-screen exhibit the issue.
With the newer bloom shader, that Astronomiya linked to, none of those resolutions should pose any problem though.
-
With 16:9, the issue is present, but barely noticeable. It's best observed in that one moon mission in WiH, where there are very bright and thin vertical lights. I see similar banding as if they were ripples of glow coming off the light. Therefore it shouldn't be caused by whether you have multiscreen, but rather the aspect ratio of your rendering. Of course, multiscreen allows for super wide resolutions, which really show off the problem.
New bloom is fantastic and avoids these issues.

New bloom is fantastic and avoids these issues.
I'm confused, I thought we had already covered and established that...
-
I mentioned it to avoid confusing people into thinking that there were problems with the new bloom.
Also, why not mention it when it's fantastic? So what if I'm the third one to bring that up so far?
