Well, they tried to make her go to rehab, and she said no, no no.

Serves her right, really.

About the only thing that surprised me about the whole thing is that she was younger than me. I thought she was in her late 30s if not 40s.

you know what I love? the fact that this "celebrity" (who in every other thread I've seen/conversation I've heard that has mentioned her passing the first reply was "who?") has got more attention that the Norway attack that killed about 100 people.

It's been pretty much the same with the UK tabloids, on Monday there was a 4-page spread on Amy Winehouse, and about half a page to the atrocities in Norway.

Whilst I feel for her family and friends, I never really listened to her music when she was alive, and I would consider it condascending of me to start singing her praises now she is dead.

Edit: I might look at splitting out the Norway attack stuff from WHIYL and making a new thread.

It depends, in Poland I can't watch any news without hearing about the Norway attacks, but the death of Winehouse was barely mentioned.

I'd never heard her songs until after she died, and all I really knew about her was that she was a crazy addict who'd probably wind up dead soon enough.  So...yeah.

Norma Jean was several times more deserving of a song about her than Amy Winehouse.
