Cyclone posted this up on TB, thought I'd share it with you:

The Maelstrom is the best.
How come that link comes up in the same window? Shouldn't it make a new one?

Avenger... ;7
Nice lightsabers. :p

Of course everyone knows that a true Jedi builds his own  :D

I have no need of any lightsaber! With this sword, I shall smite you! (http://community.sierra.com/^/4!enclosure=.ef76bd0)
-
You know, I also built my own lightsaber out of metal and everything! It resembeled more of Darth vaders lightsaber, and it didn't have any lights whatsoever, anyway my older brother wanted to borrow it for a Halloween party one day. I never saw it again. *sniff* :(
So Now, for my next daring project, if I ever actually get started, is to build something alot more harder to lose or get stolen. STORMTROOPER ARMOUR!!!! :D Gonna try and get that through as my university art project or something, becasue its the only place that has all the equipment I need!
-
Make it out of lead lined kevlar plating, coated in a nice thick white teflon coating. If you did that it'd probably be able to take a rocket impact without a scratch.......You'd be cooked of course, but still, yer armour would live on.
-
nice, but the blade needs to be much thicker. Atleast as thick as the hilt itself.

Heheh, glad to hear there's another RL model making nut around here. Stormtrooper armor is very well documented on the net. If you need any info on how to build it gimme a shout and I'll show you a few links
Needless to say you would need to be comfortable with vac - forming.
-
And be sure to post some pics of the project as it comes along!! :)

Bah, if you want swords then this is the only one worth any consideration:

-
There's some place that sells Klingon Dk'taags (sp?) and Faith's knife from Buffy. I'll have to look through some old Computer Shoppers to find the advert/address.
-
Blades are all good and well but you'll all be in trouble when I get my particle thrower built
Ghostbusting on halloween night should be fun :D
-
Pfff. Nothing beams a home-made microwave mortar. It flies up in the air, travels miles, falls, hits the ground, emits a massive EMP and microwave pulse powered by it's industrial capacitors, irradiates everything within about 50m and then it either smushes or it explodes. Now THAT is a cool weapon.
-
I'll just stick to the old trusted and faithful pea shooter. :D With my Stormtrooper armour ofcourse!

Here's a sword for you

Actually, Looking at some of the more common sites on how to build the armour, I could almost start next week at home if I wanted to, the only thing is building that vacuum forming table! Where the hell can I get a shop vac from?! Or do you think I could use my home vacuum cleaner? Cause I don't want to go buy some new super vacuum machine from the shops just for me to make some armour!
-
Shop vacs are not a nessicity but a household vac will make life interesting. You need to work very fast in order to get a good mold. Don't ever expect to get it right first time, it'll take a good deal of practise
Still, good luck it's something that I considered but I chose to build a proton pack instead.
Perhaps next year... ;)
BTW A 'shop vac' is an american term just in case you're not familiar with the term. It's an industrial vac from a wood-shop. It generally will have a few motors for greater suction than a normal vac. If you have a dyson that would kick ass since they're pretty powerful.
-
Pfff. $200 toys for grown children. I dunno. Maeg's is cool, but that's because he BUILT the damn thing, rather than just going and buying a flourescent lightbulb holder. I'd be really impressed if he found a way to get his weapon FUNCTIONAL, but as it is it's pretty good.
If I want something long and sharp, I'll stick with my machete, thank you. If it was good enough for Che, it's good enough for me, and besides it doesn't shatter on impact.
-
Bricks don't shatter on impact dude ;)
-
Bricks?

Ok, I'll first try out with my household vac. But if it won't work I'll try and "appropriate" a shopvac from my old school art class. :D By the way, how much do you think sheets of PBA plastic cost nowadays?
-
Bloody hell would you trust me with a working saber? I wouldn't trust me, that should say enough. I've broken enough furniture etc. as a kid with a stick and my imagination to know that any real weaponry, especially of the destructive potential of a saber should not be left in the same room as me. I fear I could inadvertantly cause more trouble than an0n with a copy of the anarcists cookbook and malicious intent

What country are you in?

Waste of money if you ask me. I planned to make a lightsaber of my own (well just the grip) when I thought: This is awesome!! I gotta make it my self. Then I drew concepts and came up with at least 20 different designs. Anyway, why build it? It doesn't sound like a good idea and plus it is a waist of time. I can instead play Jedi outcast rather than build a lightsaber prop which won't have any use.
-
those sabers have a major flaw... the ugly red cap at the end of the blade... ruins the whole effect.
-
Besides, no lightsaber would withstand the awesome power of this handy dandy molten slag maker.

That's not the issue. After all, who'd make a weapon that'd be safe with one? You're all just lucky my microwave cannon keeps melting the tip before it can ignite much else.:D

Hmmm, reminds me of a plan I once had...
Place inordinately large slice of bread parrallel to a bovine.
Microwave steadily for twelve minutes with microwave gun.
Tip cow onto the bread.
Wipe ass, cut off horns.
Add lettuce, tomato ketchup etc.
Place inordinately large slice of bread on top of bovine.
Voila! The worlds largest beefburger.
-
You'd waste a steel-melting, stone-charring, inferno-creating device of potential mass destruction on a COW???
You can have it. The oil truck's mine.

Hehe, where I live, Machetes used to be standard equipment. I still have this rusty, big-as* one :D
Machetes rule!

BTW, did you know you could make a flamethrower with a supersoaker?
Ingredients:
Super Soaker
Fuel
Bunsen Burner. You can get these from your local science lab :D
Duct Tape
Metal Sheet
Welding gun
Basic Metalworking knowledge.
Steps:
1.)Get your supersoaker, and weld your metal sheet around the nozzel-this is to prevent it from melting, at least for a little while-
2.)Duct tape your bunsen burner to the nozzel, so the flame is just jutting in front of the nozzel, a little ways away. Attach the gas hose to one of the tanks.
3.)Fill tanks with fuel.
4.)Let 'er rip!!!!!!:D
I've always wanted to make one of those :D
-
Doesn't work- unless you get one of those REALLY high-velocity squirtguns, and let go of the trigger before it starts to run out of pressure, the flame shoots into the tank and the whole thing goes BLOOIE in your face- pretty ugly, dude at the hospital's gotta pick all those little bits of molten plastic out of what's left of your face, and odds are you'd still be able to feel it...
-
High-pressure water gun?
-
BTW, if you wanted some real use out of the lightsaber mock-ups, you would instead make the blade out of wood, or the stuff they use to make jet cockpits (I think it's commerically available) I think it's called Lexicone or something...
-

mmm swords. They sold lots of them in China. And my friends all got onboard the airplane with them too. Terrible security. Freikin daggers sticking out of every pocket and the metal detector people let them through. Very strange.

Between that, Stormtrooper armor, Lightsabers, and a Flamethrower you'd be a one-man army. And it's all homemade! :p

Personally, I'd buy a tac nuke from a disgruntled Russian scientist. Just picture it....
[glow=red]For only $19.95, you, too, can become a nuclear power! Scare your friends, irradiate your enemies![/glow]
-
Nah. Nukes, they got no subtlety. Not saying a mortar-rigged Molotov shotgun or a ballistic dirty bomb does, but...
...I forgot my point.
-
Well Maeg has convinced me to start work on a Lightsaber of my own since the overall process is a lot simpler than I thought (I originally though machine-working was essential but it isn't).
Although for now a 5 foot staff is serveing well as a weapon for me :devilidea:
-
You can also make a very easy lightsaber out of the bike seat pipe. It has holes on both sides, you just need to polish it a bit because it is scratched from ''years of use''. And add some buttons and some crap you want and you have a very practical tool for knocking people off their feet. What? It doesn't have any other use now does it?
And don't use heavy metals because the shock may impact the brain so people would really start thinking that they are actually using the force.

Light sabers suck, it's a stupid *glow in the dark stick*....
My pocket sized quantum torpedo is far better then the glowing stick.

That weapon you see is the Penetrator, Arms long range very powerfull mobile tenderizer laser thingy. It is nice to use it against the Krogoth though. By the way, visit theofficial site (www.totalannihilation.com) and you can find new units, maps and even the map editor. The game OWNS!! The best strategy I ever played. And I still play it! :)

Yeah! Tell that to Thunder!
You can't always use the Force to throw things arround. You just make a mess. The torpedo on the countrary cleans things up!

Hah! Chuck a torp anywhere near me and I'd force push it straight back in your face. Thats why Jedi are teh rock!

Yeah I heard that one about 10 years ago.

Why cut through something, if you can blow it up?:D

Answer: Because Thunder likes to see blood rather than see sparks flying around. He said it himself.

You can use it to kill and clean at the same time, very effective if you ask me. And whit the force you only make a mess and not clean. You see Thunder the Pocket sized quantem torp™ is much better then a light saber:D
-
Who said I cared about cleanliness? Besides the Light Saber is "a more elegent weapon™" :p
-
Me flamethrower owns j00!!!:D
But Thunder, blowing things up is so much more fun!
Me=Thinks lightsabers are kewl for the first few weeks (Think The Sims) but, eventually, they all end up in the corner, while you're playing with your latest toy;)
Yea, right, the lightsaber is a weapon more suited to Samuria Jack (very kewl show) than a serious mad-man killer...thing....
-
You've proved your point and mine right there - I prefer the surgical accuracy of a saber over the wanton destruction of explosives or anything similar.

Bah, i give my Quantem tropedo™ a paint job and it wil look also look eligant:p besides the light saber maby more elgant but what good does elgancie do in battle?:D
-
It might help your spelling ;)
Besides - what good is blowing up an entire area when you only want to take one person out? It's messy. With a lightsaber and some skillz you can go in there, take your target out and be gone before anyone can retaliate.

What's the paint job for? If you fire it at someone (don't look at me) the paint job would be worthless because the paint would be gone the moment it hits it's target. Anyway, it would look a lot more scarry without paint. Making weapons isn't like the art class you have at school you know.

Lightsaber...
Pros - cuts anything, can be used for defence, quite (compaired to explosives), pretty colours and makes cool sound, street cred.
Cons - need training, limited range, have to be jedi, takes more effort to kill someone, don't actually exist.
Explosives...
Pros - kills a lot, damages structures, remote operation, can be home made cheaply.
Cons - not that acurate or discrete, can't be used for self defence, won't get through security at an airport.
And as for flame throwers:
Pros: toast stuff, novelty value.
Cons: doesnt kill instantly, short range,
Ideal sollution: Gun.
Pros - good range, simple to use, acurate, kills enough, can get scilencer, also some street cred.
Cons - your opponent may have one.
Take your pick.
Personally i prefer a butchers knife, as illustrated below:
:headz:
Pete.
-
So whats your guys suggestions to make a homeamde yet presentable lightsaber with 50 bucks or less?
-
Well, how I made my ill fated saber was quite easy. I just got a metal pipe, black electric tape, some nuts and bolts, internal mechanics of a radio, and some black rubber tubing and basically fastioned it out of them. It didn't cost me more that $20 to put it all together and it looked real enough when you kept it on you're belt.
The REAL question is how can you make Stormtrooper armor with 50 bucks or less! I've been looking at all the options on how to make it, and I'm now seriously contemplating in buying myself a Kit that I have to build up, but atleast I don't have to vacuum form it, and the cheapest of these are a whopping 550 bucks!!! And in order to make one totally out of scratch, I'm gonna need help, mutual financing, and artistic support. Well, its still the beggining of summer, so maybe I could find from somewhere some Star Wars fans over here, serious enough to join me in my little project. :D

No, a lightsaber won't take it down. But any Jedi would just use the Force to direct the fire back at the person with the flamethrower. So :ha:

What if you fire an AAAf or something at a Jedi? The beam would be way too thick for the lightsaber to completely deflect. :p :D
-
Then he sees it coming using the Force and dodges it. :p
and you know, the name of this thread could be interpreted rather wrongly...and since it's posted by thunder...."Got Wang?"

They use their lightsabers to dodge stuff, right? The saber blade would be too thin to dodge a thick AAAf beam and would only deflect parts of it, while the other bits would still hit the guy. :p :D

I was waiting for that - and the disturbing thing is it took two whole pages of discussion before someone actually mentioned it ;)
As for the beam - they'd deflect that as well. Your forgetting that size doesn't matter - you can lift rocks and X-Wings ;)

Well, with lightsaber only, it might be difficult. But with force powers and lightsaber, no problem. :p You could just mind trick or push that and then kill him, or be so fast that he couldn't react. :D

I guess he would be able to deflect it. But it's almost instant hit, so Jedi should dodge it with force. :D
Edit: But some bigger beam... that would be hard. ;)
-
I didn't know there was so much to discuss abotu lightsabers...hmmm:p
Anyway, I remember seeing the commercial trailer featuring Mace Windu and it mentions Mace having a one of a kind lightsaber called an electrum lightsaber. Any different conventional crystal lightsabers that other Jedis use?
-
I gather Mace Windus saber is electric powered - not crystal powered. How this is an advantage/disadvantage is still a mystry to me - they probably put it in there to keep the trivia nuts happy.

Yeah, try dodging a BFgreen which is about 100m wide (atleast the turret is).

I see. There is a scene in Episode 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi fighting Jango Fett in the rain. Now, I noticed something wrong there. You see, lasers are very intense energy that is very very hot. So, if Obi-Wan ignited his lightsaber in the rain and rain water is pouring on the lightsaber, wouldn't there be lots of steam?
-
That nuke thing reminds me of another plan I had. Remember the criminally obvious nuclear weapon in 'True lies'?
It would be pretty easy to build a replica. Picture it, set the nuke in the corner, host a massive party and wait for the cops to bust in.
...and run out almost immediately looking pretty shaken up
-
I'd still prefer my combination singularity/wormhole gravity shield..
if it had to be a personal weapon?
I'd skip lightsaber training and just develop my force skills....electrocute everyone or simulateneously push an army over the cliff behind them, that sort of thing.
Yep...power of the mind for me, definately.
-

Err, the crystal is not the power source, its what makes the beam, you couldnt replace that with electricity now could you?
-
No but like I said I don't know the details - I might look it up later. All I can gather is that instead of a crystal it uses electricity or something.
Update:
It seems that there's some controversy around Maces saber(s). Why the plural? Well thats the controversy. He had more than one over the course of things and there's several sites on why. Here's a couple:
http://www.thelightsaber.com/MaceFiasco.htm
http://www.geocities.com/c-boath/mace.htm
Which of these is the electric one I've heard about is beyond me - I'm still looking at it.

It's A Close Combat Space Fighter... only true martial arts masters can pilot the best of these babys, the lenght of the "sword" tells how good you are. Mace Wandu has more than one light saber due to a publicity stills picture mess-up. At the time of photographing, the requested (purple) saber wasn't available at the time, so they had to use a different one.
BTW, I still think a Jedi with a flamethrower (namely, me!!!:D) would kick major patooties! I mean, think about it, with his force skills, he could extend the range of his attack! Schweet!!!

My closet is full of antiques, including such famed weapons as the dead frozen goat of justice, and a banstick that I managed to find on the floor, after the Relic Bulleten Board movie. I think it belonged to delphy....:D

Is that what this mysterious key (tm) is for, then?
Oh wait...it's the front door key.
-
By the way, what weapon is standard issue around here to the admins?
The VBB had three (Dead Frozen Goat of Justice, VBB Hammer of Justice, Dead trout of Justice) and the relic boards had lightsaber-like bansticks?
What's it around here? the HLP Hammer of Justice?
-
You better not look into my weapons locker. Anyway, if you do, you won't find the following:
- The tenderizer (TM)
- My lightsaber
- Handy dandy pocket sized molten slag maker
- My chain saw ( well never know when it can come in handy)
and of course:
- My super high preasured rapid fire water gun ( usefull against flamethrowers and shivan integrated plazma weapons)
So anyway, don't bother. You won't find anything usefull in there anyway. :p

For the admins...the hosted staff get the HLP Foam Mallet of Medium-to-Rare Justice.

Is it bump-mapped? :p
This thread has gone way OT. :snipe:

The contents of the HLP Admin lockers are personalised and secret, why should we tell everyone what nasty little tricks we have up our etherial sleeves? ;)
I will say this though, mine includes a lightsaber...

oh, shush. We all now it's a squeaky inflatable glow-in-the dark hammer with the head removed.
-
Hmmm... that means Maeg has two weapon lockers. His staff one and the Wolf one. The standard Wolf weapon locker consists of:
- A lightsabre (double lightsabres available by special request)
- An X-wing
The Wolf Moderator weapon lockers also contain:
- A Guillotine.
- A tac nuke
- A Tie Advanced
- Yoda
- The HHDOJ
-
And whatever happened to the HLP Hammer of Ownage? Where did it go? And who does have the password to that account?
:D
-
It's more of an antique now since all the admin developed Force 0wn. It's kept in one of the cold storage lockers out the back...
As for the password, well... it's next to my lightsaber - and I believe another copy exists on Setekhs databanks...

Yeah using the force we can manipulate the threads in more subtle ways.
The hammer was just too blatent, scared too many people. That's why Thunder put it in cold storage, it's the one marked 'in case of stupidity break glass'.
-
Well I am imune to all force attacks so you can't really use the force on anybody you know. :D
-
Are you so sure we can't manipulate you? :D

You are too weak to manipulate me my friend. :D

I recently aquired an antique Z-95 Headhunter. Now I got more firepower to my impressive arsenal.

That's not space crack, some Terrans have been pushing some new drug called Cabella... pretty weak but it works on humans... I must have a word with our supliers...

No wonder I have been a bit crazy these days and I have noticed that my attunement with the Force has been somewhat reduced or affected. Just two days ago, I accidentally cut myself with my own red crystal lightsaber while practising. Embarassing is the word.

Well I'm in command of an army of teddy bears with names like Wikket and Chief Chirpa so :ha:
Nobody can possibly deal with an invasion force of Ewoks. NOBODY! nobody...body...body.......dy..........y
Makes ya feel kinda small and weak hearing all those echoes doesn't it? :D
-
Sense you make not!
-
Point being...?
and I think I make sense. It's about my Ewok army and how nobody can overcome it....:D

Strong the force is.

No, it mean's he can sense our power.
-
Well yeah I really hate it when that Reborn master says: "I sense you Jedi." How the heck does he do that?
Man that makes me angry. I try to go stealth and avoid conflict but nooo, he wants me to do it the hard way. Isn't there a way to negotiate or something? Violence isn't my way of solving a problem.

Kill him. Then talk it over.

My ultimate weapon= the AJ-1-A (Armored Jager, Mecha 1, First version).
Equiped with a Medium Anti-Air Cannon, Heavy Missle Launchers, Jump Jets, grenades, and generally anything that spews death, it is almost undefeatable in my hands :D
EDIT: Almost forgot the most important part:
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!:p

A Jedi uses the Force for defense. Never for attack.:p You are of the Dark side of the Force. Part of the Sith. You must be destroyed in order to bring balance to the Force!!!:D

So be a neutral Jedi. Neutral side of the Force. You can use Force to defend, and attack. ;7

Well from his description I derived the fact that you are playing the part of the Jedi, you have an opponent that will not reason and you have to do something about it. :p
Makes sense to me.
-
Well I would much preffer the lightside. In Dark Forces 2 I learned that you can defeat Jerec only if you are on the lightside. Once I tryed to go to the Dark Side and I couldn't possibly kill Jerec because I didn't have heal. Sure I had lightning, that hate power and stuff like that but it was useless.
So I honestly wanted to avoid conflict. When that dark jedi pulled the saber in JKII, I just pulled myne in deffence position and then he started to move arround and grabbed me with the grip. Well you don't wanna know what happened afterwords. :D
*WHOOM WHOOM * "Screams of pain"

It's a good thing that girls don't use the force. Man... what a horrible world that would be. :nervous:

Well, there are very, very rare cases of these types of Jedi. I heard about an example being mentioned in some Star Wars comic set in the days of the Old Republic.:)

Fine. Then in this case, a lightsaber duel is the only way to go then.
*Snap hiss*

Well, there are female Jedis.:p
If you got a wife who uses the Force, try to produce male Force-sensitive sons to counter her! Hahaha:lol:

To short, but otherwise nice design :)

What better vehicle to fly around hacking stuff up in than in a Incom T-65 X-Wing Starfighter?

Coming to an FS2 near you after Karma is done improving the maps.
For comparison, here is the current FS2 X-Wing:

Hey! I'm a Force user here too!!! Get rid of that thing!! :D

You should know that those things don't work here - and those that hold any real power are blown to pieces by automated weapons on entering the forums. Nice try though ;)

His not kidding about those automated weapons. I had to use an extreme amount of Force to deflect their shots until I was past the Registration booth.:D

with a broken link? :wtf:
Hmmm....force users. I just have trust in my good old "random" blaster and my army of Ewoks. The automated weapons can't sense those. That's how I got in. :D

You can't beat my headz box and headz cutterz, though. :D

Well if I mind trick them and if I am trained on the highest level, I can turn them on my side and order them to fire at you. :D MWHAHAHA!! Anyway, I can mindtrick them and avoid detection. :D
How's that? :p :p :p
-
If they don't have human behind them? Maybe they're fully automatic. :nervous:
In that case, speed through them. :D

I have an even better idea. ;)
This one can't miss! :)
I just walk in, I am cool and I say to those security guns: Hey what's up? Listen can you solve this math problem from my last exam?
*The robotic turret lowers it's cammera looking at the paper*
2 seconds later
AAAAARGH!! *Robotic turret screams* BOOM!
-
:blah: :D
Be ready for a quick pickup. I've got feelings that things are going to get pretty nasty around here. :p
But I think speed is enough to pass them.
Don't tell me that this has gone OT!

Perhaps I shoudl call in Jan to reprogram them and see if she can cause some serious trouble there.
Boy, for a Jedi, Kyle really sucks when it comes to computers.
