I re installed after some years away and got two anomalies:
it says:
make sure the box at the top says <The Folder You Installed To>\fs2_open_3_6_12.exe.
but the only optoins i had were for:
fs2_open_3_6_12d_INF.exe and
fs2_open_3_6_12r_INF.exe
which is best to use?
and i got these error reports:

And is FS port the ported version of Freespace 1? i forgot... :) thanks to all for the amazing work on this project..sorry to have been away for so long, RL interferred.

I would simply like to add something I encountered in relation to the topic
After using the installer, one of the VPs for the FSPort was not downloaded. That one being Stu.vp
To answer your bottom question, FSPort is FS1 on FS2

Use the build that says "r" and not "d".
"Shivans" and "Twilight" are user-made campaigns. Missing them may leave you heartbroken but the game itself will work fine. Rerunning the installer would not take hours because it detects what you already have and will not redownload.

ah ha, thank you re FS Port, i thought that was what it was...
do we need to install the actual FS1? i have the original game disks and the expansion.
Hi Jeff and thanks!.
thanks re the installer, i will run it again much appreciate the help on this, and hopefully those campaigns will install. that installer is great very appreciative to the Admiral for that helpful tool.
Is the Headmaster still around? If so Hello there K! :)

do we need to install the actual FS1?
No.

Unfortunately it seems that those two campaigns don't have any mirrors and the one location for them has been down for a while, so I doubt rerunning the Installer will get you those campaigns in the near future. You can, of course, download them yourself from freespacemods.net, for example.

OK i will get them from Freespacemods thanks again
