Title: Table Hacking Eh?

I'm starting to dabble in this, and so far it seems pretty easy. My first 10 minute attempt had me flying a souped up Myrmidon at 135mps firing heat-seeking Tempests. (WOW those work so well. fighter killers supreme.)
I also fiddled with the Artemis D.H. to give it the performance it SHOULD have.
Anyway, it seems a little too easy? Anyone have any hints/tips/warnings of potential pitfalls I should be wary of?

nope - but man be more adventurous - i've had a ship doing 1000ms   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) and made it so it didn't like slowing down so you use the burners to get upto huge speed but it very slowly drifted down - could if your doing 1000ms and you want to jump out it takes ages for the ship to get down to 40ms to jump - but minor point - can also mess with how fast you change direction combined with the speed thing - you can attemp to make a more realistic flight physics but cant make it perfect sadly

and yeah i have heat seeking tempest but more fun i think is a lock on tempest  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)

I'm less worried about how high I can make the numbers and more about how funky the stuff I can do. Like making a pirhana spawn torpedoes, or something. Making a rocket do as much damage as a flux cannon or a ship with 1000000hp is okay, but I'd like to make stuff thats interesting and realistic rather than just cheesy =)

I was mostly asking about what kind of things I might accidentally do WRONG =P Is there any way to screw up other than actually leaving entries out that need to be there?

There is only 1 thing I can think of.  Watch importing new ships with turrets.  If there's a turret entry in the tbl file and no turret on the POF, instant crash city  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Is it possible to make an enemy to ship come to contact (I mean bumping) with the player ship? maybe a way to make it a raming ship without the suicide bit?
