I think I'll cheer on England although I know little of them.  I love soccer but I'm not really with it about the teams too much.  I can probably get close to reciting the rule book however :)

Face it, we Americans suck at soccer (except our women's team).

Yeah, the riot police in Japan and S. Korea sure aren't. And although the American team is never good, it has been doing better recently I think.

I really like soccer and I think that this World Cup will be controlled by the Japanese police.

I am rooting for Argentina because they're the best team on Earth!

Yeah, thats the media for you - I don't speak for everyone but I see football as an embarassment now, not an exhibition of sporting ability.

If France won the previous world cup and the european cup, it doesn't mean that it will win this time.

Although I'm not following any one team*, since Australia was kicked out by Uruguay, I'm looking forward to some good matches and great soccer in general. World Cups rock :D

*Anyone who keeps Uruguay out of the finals will suddenly become my favourite team, for a short time

1 word - Zizou.  Best player in the world......  my moneys on France / Argentina in the final, assuming they can't meet beforeheand.

Dark horses - Spain (due a good run) and Italy (best defence in the world)

I think England will do better than they normally do but for some reason everyone thinks they're automatically guranteed to win.

Ireland, however, are ****ed.

As a proud Scotsman, i will be supporting who ever england's opponents are.

Yes i know scotland isnt in the worl cup, we are just unlucky.

Anyway, im more of a rugby man (since i play it).  America are supprising pants at rugby, they got beaten 63-3 by scotland, and even scotland are a bit crap, i admit.

pete

Lets all join in. (brakets indicate optional)

"Oh flower of scotland,
When will we see,
Your light again?
Who faught and died for,
A wee bit hill and glen,
And stood against him ('gainst who?)
Proud Edward's army (wankers)
And sent them homewards,
To think again.

Those days are past now,
And in the past,
They must remain,
So we can rise now,
And be a nation again,
And stood against him ('gainst who?)
Proud Edwards army (wankers)
And sent them homewards,
To think again"

Its not about luck, its about quality, so i guess Scotland wasnt good enough :p. Also no decent person born in Britian should ever support Argentina.

And football players wear so much padding because if they didn't they would get hurt so much more easily. And they're pansies. :D

Are shivans allowed to play football?  Its a bit unfair since they have more than 2 legs, a shivan goalie would be pretty hard to beat.

"we hate coca cola
we hate fanta too (it tastes ****e!)
we're all boys from Scotlaaaaannnnnd
and we drink Irn Bru"

Worst team in the world - best fans.

Oh, and england don't have a hope in hell of even getting past the group stage.... can't wait for the massive dissapointment, and the huge excuses that the BBC fires out.

Especially this quote in the France Vs. South Korea  match by skys' commentator (korea 2-1 up).

"there's a banner outside the ground syaing 'Hiddink, make our dreams come true'.  These JKorenas are so passionate, that actually belive (incredulous tone) that they can win the world cup!"

Talk about hypocritical - I nearly split my sides :D

Oh, and the ITV Champions League commentator had to make a grovelling apology to Glasgow after calling 2 streakers during the Champs League final (great day in Glasgow, BTW) a disgrace to the city and generally slagging the residents of glasgow for it - they were from Gibraltar and Liverpool

Or the endless interview of football celebrities trying to get them to comment on Englands chances, rather than their own countries.  In the incredulous response of they don't tip england?

Beginning to understand why I'm supporting Sweden, Argentina and Nigeria (in order)?
