Title: Gratuitous Space Battles

Yes, that is the name of the game.  :p I'm surprised no one here has posted about it yet.

Its pretty much a strategy game. You create, customize, position, and give orders to ship before the battle, then you just watch the battle play out. There have been a number of player-made mods for this came. (Star wars, for example) and I can only imagine how awesome a Freespace mod would be!

Looks fairly interesting, I'm surprised myself I've never heard of this before
