Title: RELEASE:Secret of the Ancients

Here it is after long time of work, I've finished my first campagin. 22 Mission long you are fighting to save humanity - again. It plays 15 years after Capellan.There are some new ships, too
Well it is no Blue planet but I think it isn't too bad for my first campaign. :nervous:

Does this campaign use FSPort? You may need to edit the mod.ini.

Strange IT seems there are some bugs left in the uploaded verions Please wait until I fixed them.

I tried the first mission. It's an escort mission. :( And I had to wait 2 minutes for anything to happen. There wasn't any talking or anything to fill the time, so it was kind of boring. It could be improved by having the pirates arrive a lot sooner or have some transports talking between each other. Making a fun escort mission is hard, especially since we've been through so many that they get tiring after awhile (and all campaigns seem to start with them :p).

Also there's a number of textures still missing from the mod. Most notably the Apollo. I looked around in the tech room, there's a few more too. (Maverick, Fury and a few others)

There's a number of spelling mistakes and grammar errors. Now I'm guessing English isn't your first language, so it might be best to find someone to help you proofread your text. Makes everything much more enjoyable.

That said, good work on actually getting something out there. :)

Try ticking the 'use 3D models for ship selection' option in the launcher.

I like the first mission, but I think it have a lot of waves of enemy ships, also the distance between the player and the enemy is tremendous, I am not criticizing,  just giving my opinion, I will play the rest of the missions of course, : D

There's something wrong with your ships.tbl (and you probably should have used tbm's), but as a person who doesn't really do any tabling, I cannot help with the issue. It's just a warning that popped up with a debug build, so it's nothing that would prevent people from playing but still.

I know you'd want people to watch your videos. But it isn't very polite to blatantly advertise it in campaign release threads. Or any threads that aren't about Youtube videos, for that matter.

Okay, I downloaded it and started playing it. First escort mission wasn't bad but a little boring, however I ran into some bugs. I don't know if anyone got them too so I'll put spoilers just in case.

It was fine until I got to the part where I had to defend the Yamato and the Sol Gate from that Typhoon Destroyer. I killed everything and the Aquataine told me to jump back. I did so but it marked the mission as a failure and I couldn't continue. After that I played the mission two more times but it didn't let me continue. I became curious and blew up the Yamato and then it let me continue.

I thought it was the only problem. The next mission I go up against the Ravana then defend the Memphis. The same bug appears saying I can jump back to base but after I jump I can't contiune again.

I will wait until the situation with these is resolved so please fix these issues because this campaign isn't bad. Looking forward to the fixes.

If you make a campaign, it's pretty important to play through it once, even if you've tested all the individual missions.  This is not as bad as the showstopping bug in the last campaign to be released.  You probably tested the missions, at least a few times.  Last person had a mission that he may have never tested.  There was a mission which you couldn't jump out of because of a faulty sexp.

Thanks for your offer, you are allowed to correct my mistakes in Act 1. Would be great if you can dothis also for act 2 when its finished.

Hey Nagrach,
you are from Germany, right? ;-)

Yesterday I downloaded your Campaign and played approximitely the first half of it.
What i liked so far:
-I'm not restricted to the basic weapons in the first half
-The plot of the missions are relatively rich in variety
- jumping directly into the firefight instead of approaching it :-)

and now some criticism... some missions are very long! The last one i played took 22 minutes und i killed over 80 Shivans. After that, there was no big dirrerence to the Situation i started with.
In a story there is always an introduction, a climax and the end. Maybe you can shorten the missions to the essence but make moments which are more intense. Some Turns, a surprise and a little more diverse shivan presense. Maybe Bomerwing, bomberwing with escort, two bomberwings approching from different positions, time for some chatter, showdown. Let something happen which might act as a bridge between the missions.

There may be \ are some plotholes... where does the node lead to? time for a suicide mission ;-)? Why did I miss the great reunion? If i'm not involved, tell me otheres where and what they did.

and now ill fly another mission :-)

Does this mean you're using 3.6.12?
try using a nightly build instead. that solved problems like these for me.

When you open the mission, right?  It could be that you're missing part of the Media VPS somehow, and that part is part of the background of mission 1.

I did a quick check and the files that it says are missing are inside the MV_Effects.vp  Inside its Data\Effects folder.  Check to see if your VP has these files.

I've redownloaded everything.  Both the vps(from 2 different places) and the campaign with the same result.  I have no clue how to look in the vp files.

Ok.  If you redownloaded them, then there's almost no chance that that's where the problem is.

Try running it on a debug build and posting the log.

i'm the stuck at the incoming transmission  mission
i ended up in shivan enemy field
but the ship has no control, no engine, no steering
any idea if is the red alert bug or something else?

using the debug version instead of release it crash at mission start

creating a new pilot solved the problem with red alert bug
still
the last mission some problem:
- when completed it starts from the same mission again
- the 2 escort ship are not following the orion class ship to the node

I confirm the Mediafire link is down, but the FSMRP link works, at least. I see the campaign is not on Knossos, and I'm really bad at creating mod.json files. The package features a good old mod.ini.

Could anyone create one such json and get the mod to work for Knossos users? Also, has anyone played this campaign recently? Any known bugs?
