Currently I am somewhat of a fatass. This thread, along with my supportive girlfriend, will help keep me on track. I will update every thursday.

Save money... lose weight... walk to work.
Too late! I've been walking to work since February. It's really not enough of a walk, since i moved across the street from work in February
-
You must really, really hate HLP.
-
OK, take the scenic route.

I've been hitting the gym since about April myself. I haven't lost any weight but I'm getting a lot of my definition back (Replacing fat with muscle pound for pound). Most important thing is to stay consistent, force yourself to go even if you don't feel like it. Having someone go with you helps a lot in that department. I combine cardio with strength training and that seems to have worked for me. In the past I did little cadio and mostly weight training only to find I was gaining weight and not losing any fat. This time around I started off with heavy cardio sometimes up to an hour a day combined with about a half hour of weight training now I'm down to about a half hour each and still keeping the fat loss to muscle gain ratio at about the same levels.

Gained some weight, but i am feeling better. I'm guessing the extra is due to putting on some muscle.

You won't notice any visible results until ~4 weeks in.
-
looking good bro. like swantz said you won't notice a difference until after the first month

Same deal as last time. Feeling better, but weighing more :-\
-
Give me a knife and I'll carve some of that weight off ya!
That aside, what else are you doing in order to tackle this?
-
other than going to the gym and eating right, what else is there to do?
-
How are these the weight loss chronicles if all you do is gain weight?
-
I think some muscle gain is inevitable due to how weak i had gotten. I wouldnt be surprised if my legs look completely different on the inside at this point.
-
Yep, when you start stressing your muscles, they're gonna be focused on building up and keeping you intact. When you plateau on muscle gain (for now), then you'll start getting adipose tissue breakdown. Keep at it! Go harder, even. You'd be surprised at what you're actually capable of as opposed to what you think you're capable of. :P

my father has been exercising and eating right for the last decade, but hasn't lost much weight, I believe the key is counting calories in and out, just eating healthy and exercising daily will make you fit, but not necessarily thin.
Good luck man on your goal!
-
Keep losing weight and people might mistake you for Johnny Depp someday. ;) Great job!
-
Victory lunch at Epic for the Gears 3 release was pizza and ice cream. It was delicious, but not helpful toward my ultimate goal.

Save money... lose weight... walk to work.
Too late! I've been walking to work since February. It's really not enough of a walk, since I moved across the street from work in February
I tried the same (15 minutes walk to/from work), besides having more appetite there was no effect.
Making sit-ups after the walk (and other exercises) has a effect: No lose of weight, but I can suck my gut longer in then I meet a beautiful women ;)
( To be true, I also have now less problems with an aching back )
So don't give up, even without the lose of weight it has benefits.

Here's an awesome tip, by the way.
Stop drinking soda; all of it.
-
Eat at the same times, take lunch to work in a lunchbox or w/e, make sure it's healthy lunch. Brown grainy bread with toppings (and little or no butter) is a lot better. Also eat more breakfast than you lunch. Breakfast is proven to be the most important meal of the day. If you eat well during breakfast you're less hungry for the rest of the day and you'll have fewer tendencies to have a snack. It also makes you feel more energized and fit during the rest of the day.
Also good excercise gives you adrenaline and through that endorphine. The latter is stuff which makes your brain feel good and is the same you get when you over-eat or eat snacks a lot. Your tendency to have a snack or eat too much will reduce if you keep that up for 1 or 2 months. Ask a certified professional to help you find the right excercises for you, they can often tell what excercises are most achievable in your lifestyle and which excercises you should avoid if for example you have a job where you sit or walk a lot.

Down from last week and still putting on muscle!

You ought to put these images into a slide show animation on the first post to more effectively see the differences.
-
That is my eventual intent, but i will be waiting until i really notice some difference to start with that.
Also, i am sore everywhere.

I know you're trying to replace your fat with muscle, but watch out for those body builder diets. To much protein is really hard on the body, and a lot of the extra protein will be converted to fat.
I think it's better to underestimate your protein requirements than to overestimate. There's protein in practically everything you eat.

Don't take whey protein. Me and my friend realized this after 5 months of 5 day intense work out regimen. My friend, happy with his weight just wanted to transform his beer gut fat into muscle. He wanted to work out with me for motivation. A month in he decided to get crazy and try whey protein (his work out goal got more ambition). I went along with it too because it was free whey protein for me. As many pounds i weighed i was how many grams of whey protein i had every day before working out (150 pounds, so 150 grams a day).
The last 4 months of the 5 day intense work out regimen. I only gained 8 pounds. My friend gained 30 pounds. He stopped taking it and i did too. I decided to break routine for a week break of working out, and i lost the 8 pounds (fast metabolism makes it very hard for me to gain weight, and i wouldn't bet my life if i could keep whatever weight i do gain). We continued the intense 5 day workout thing every week. And in two weeks after stopping whey protein intake, he lost 30 pounds. Alas, he was finally back at his normal weight he was at in the first place with a beer gut (a weight he was happy with in the first place), but with no beer gut.
He had originally lost the beer gut a long time ago after the first month of working out (wasn't a super beer gut). We continued working out for months and months after that anyway because it was really a great and fun routine.
Basically, none of us would have wasted our time with it if we knew it was going to be so temporary for months of working out almost every day. I summarize whey protein like this: whey protein, good for a fast breakfast in the morning on the go if you don't have pop tarts.
I do however recommend taking 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon a day for it's thermogenic weight loss benefits along with work out regimen and healthy eating.

No update today. Working some serious overtime.
