Title: Split From: NuDeimos
Post by: NGTM-1R on September 05, 2011, 10:19:59 pm
Are you still planning on incorporating the side-mounted multi-part turrets for at the very least a "special edition" of the model?

Do those even work now? I thought they were broken again.

when did they stop working?

Some period around the early .6.12 days, IIRC.

Really. How remarkable that noone managed to notice it, let alone tell us coders about it.

IIRC the date they stopped working was "a long-ass time ago", and what stopped working was a very early implementation of side-mounted multiparts that only lasted for a short time. I've never heard of the current system breaking.

At least, I've never seen them break.

They work now.
People who think they don't work are terribly under-informed >.> lern2test

How remarkable you simply don't bother to remember. I remember Spoon having to can an early Challenger because of troubles with it among other things.

Can the ****talking, it's not going to help.

I don't build models, how the **** would I test this?  I just see these problems when they surface on the forums.

I'm sorry, but I really do not remember the issue. Was it Mantised? Are there forum posts about it? In other words, is it still current? Because as far as I can tell from looking at the models with side-mounted multiparts I have on hand (like the Solaris, for example), no such issue exists. I have been assured by other people I talked to about this (mjn.mixael, for example) that they can't remember this issue, or confirm it as existing now. So either it was fixed long ago, in which case your remark about them not working is wrong, or these specific issues have never been properly reported, in which case it is no wonder they haven't been fixed.

I can confirm that side mounted MP turrets worked about a month ago (that is, before I started playing Age of Pirates 2  :) ). I didn't checked since then, but judging from Nightly logs, this code wasn't really touched recently, so there's no reason why they shouldn't be working.
On the other hand, they can be tricky to set up, so Spoon could have been complaining about it not working, because he did something wrong when setting them up (and stopped reporting about it once he found and fixed the problem, since both Challengers in WoD work well). The only problem I had was with rear-mounted MP turrets (on Scooby's fighters), but I have a few theories that I'm going to check before bothering SCP about this (though I don't know when I will do that, due to aforementioned AoP2).

I am willing to go out on a limb and say that any multipart that doesn't work is because whoever set it up was doing it wrong.

It is indeed somewhat tricky to do. If turrets that worked suddenly stopped to, it'd undoubtely be quickly reported.
