Diaspora's paypal account has been frozen (http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/370624/diaspora-accuses-paypal-of-blocking-donations).

ah, dammit.
I knew we would sooner or later run out of cubits.
We shouldn't have build that many big ships at once, now we have to find means to aquire money. Lots of it.
-
We should build some robotic servants to do our work for us. That will save a lot of money since we won't have to pay them. What's the worst that could happen?
-
yeah, it's not like they would ever rebel or anything.
But redsniper gave me an idea, we could build female robot sexslaves. I'm pretty sure there's a market for that and the income would be sufficent to build entire fleets! :pimp:

I think the guys in Japan beat you to that one...(googles "robot sexslaves")
:D

some comments about that article are saying it's not the fault of paypal but the ones who decided to trust paypal and didn't read the fine print.
don't strike the messenger please.
-
What was in the fine print that allowed them to do this though?

who knows? they forbid themselves to talk about it.

Well it does say in the article "At times, we may require a business or charity to hold funds in their accounts to ensure that they can refund their customers if there are a high level of complaints" ... it sounds as though that's some representative of PayPal saying that, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's supported by some text in their terms of service.
