I have a Logitech 3D Extreme joystick which doesn't respond to Z axis rotation when playing FSO. I re-calibrated the joystick and tested the Z rotation outside of FSO to ensure it was working properly, yet it doesn't seem to register while actually playing the game. My ship simply won't spin, which really puts a kink in my dogfighting techniques. What's the proper diagnostics protocol for this?

Are you sure that you have the roll axis assigned in the controls config? I don't think the Z-axis is set to roll by default.

Ah, you're right. Thanks for your help, my joystick is flying beautifully now. Also, what's the recommended ratio of sensitivity to deadzone? Is there a generally accepted community standard for this?

There is actually.
It's called the "whatever works best for you" value, and I highly recommend setting it to that. :D
However, in all seriousness, completely filling either bar to maximum in the in-game options won't net you much. The general "Min" and "Max" is at least one dot on either side. So, the most minimum setting to still retain some semblance of accuracy would be 1 dot, the maximum would be 1 shy of full. I have Sensitivity at the "Max" and Deadzone at the "Min" in my case, "Your Mileage May Vary" so feel free to experiment.

I see. None of the combinations I tried worked for me, but I'll keep experimenting (using your settings as a reference) and hopefully I'll find something that works. Thanks for the help!
