More than a year and a half after Iceland's major banks failed, all but sinking the country's economy, police have begun rounding up a number of top bankers while other former executives and owners face a two-billion-dollar lawsuit.

First refusing to bailout UK banks, then a nationwide online constitutional referendum, now this? Go Iceland.

A nation of naive, blunt, rotten shark fin eaters. That it was amateur hour then should not increase your confidence it is not amateur hour now.

The silence of the media regarding Iceland is deafening.

Iceland has actually already recovered from the recession, and are doing quite well. For some reason nobody wants to mention that this was all against EU, IMF and whatever wishes that Iceland should pay the debt. Surprisingly, it turned out that if you have something that somebody else needs, even recent history of not paying the bank debts doesn't matter, if they want it bad enough.

The government of Iceland has put on international warrants of the leader boards of the three banks and required them to report their wealth within 48 hours. It will be interesting to see what sort of things prosecution comes up with. So far the bankers' responses have been of the line "You can't do that here!"

Let's see how this pans out.

Have the bankers actually violated any criminal laws?

Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!  AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The Hammer of the Gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Bankers, I am coming!

Was that made for Taleworlds or did they get it from elsewhere? I'm curious actually.

Ah, to be young, and naive, and not have read this article. (http://depts.washington.edu/teclass/articles472/Wall%20Street%20on%20the%20Tundra%20_%20vanityfair.pdf)

You gonna arrest the whole country? It'd be a good start.

Iceland's cultural and social makeup contributed heavily to the mess they find themselves in, as did their basic naivety about fiance, the complicity of all major governmental institutions, and the fact that it's ****ing Iceland and there's absolutely nothing there.

EDIT: Also, belief in elves is still widespread enough the government has inspectors about it.

that was bloody long. and not very flattering to the average Icelander. pretty entertaining though. I liked the part about female investors being better than men, that was amusing. (I am male, and no squat about investments). They're screwed though.

Just start with the bankers...

Plus it is an island so... no need to really lock anyone up. Just prevent them from ever leaving :)

Have the bankers actually violated any criminal laws?

Is that important ?

Impale them ! Let the kiddies carve the runes of suckage into the still living flesh !

And if this don't change the economic situation impale someone else ! ;)
