Title: Looking for an old ad.
Post by: Stormbreaker on October 31, 2011, 09:00:41 pm
I realize this is a bit of a long shot, but does anyone have (or know where I could get) a scan of that old magazine ad for the first Freespace that had the fighter flying by the Lucifer for a size comparison?  My saved back issues from the time don't seem to have it.

If you remember what it looked like, it shouldn't be too hard to remake it with existing assets.

It was a Typhon, not the Lucifer. Well no, it was some sort of freakish mutant Typhon. And IIRC there was a purple Azrael.

Edit: I know the one you're talking about, but I can't find it either.

Is it the same shot from the front flap of the FS1 box art?  I have two different FS1 boxes lying around, so I could try to get a scan of it, or at the very least a picture.

I'm looking at my copy of the FS1 box art now, and although there's a Typhon (I think its a Typhon, TBH looks like a Typhon concept) there's no fighter that I can see.

Was it the one with Lucifer and a Hercules, with an arrow pointing to the Herc saying "this is you" or something like that?
Unfortunately, I don't recall where I've seen it.

That's the one.  Unfortunately, this was well before I ended up playing the game (so it may well have been a Typhon, Aardwolf; my apologies if my memory's incorrect), so I can recall exactly when it was that I saw it, but I'm pretty sure I spotted it at least once in an issue of PC Gamer.

Nah, you don't owe me an apology :P

I was just annoyed @Dragon for not reading/heeding my initial reply.

I'm pretty sure that concept Typhon was on the box somewhere. Herc was compared to Lucy.

Yeah, I pretty distinctly remember this with a Lucy as well... I think there may have been more than one there, Aardwolf.

It's neither of them.
Both ships were shown from the side, the fighter being a herc, the capship was lucy. There was a lot of text about features FS1 boasted, with text next to the arrow being "it's you" or something like that, rather than just "you".
