Post by: The E on November 21, 2011, 03:43:47 am: Actually, no. Kinect is way more than a camera, as it also carries an infrared depth sensor that can generate a depth map of whatever the camera sees without having to do that on the PC it is connected to.

Doesn't mean MS didn't go "hey look at that, how can we make it better", that's about par for the tech world. But ya, the Kinect is quite a bit more impressive then a slightly overpriced usb webcam.
