The use of a Kinect is compelling. But something about that bowl just seems a bit, off. If there were two Kimect units involved I'd believe a bit more.
-
I noticed it seems to lag a little bit. Wouldn't the input from an additional Kinect slow it down a bit more?
-
You can always throw more processors at it.
-
You know, I've got to say, I'm not terribly impressed by this.
-
i'm wondering why the plug for the kinect in here. surely any other camera would do the same thing.
also, first youtube comment:
fleshlight + 3d girl = profit
i can't decide if that's amusing or sad.
-
Actually, no. Kinect is way more than a camera, as it also carries an infrared depth sensor that can generate a depth map of whatever the camera sees without having to do that on the PC it is connected to.

The Kinect is Playstation's EyeToy.

Heh, I think he meant the Kinect is Xbox's version of the Playstation's EyeToy. And I think the EyeToy came first (PS2 era), so he would be right in that respect.
-
It did come with the PS2, but the EyeToy wasn't really anything more than a webcam. The Kinect is a more advanced piece of hardware, to say nothing of the software.

meh.

Doesn't mean MS didn't go "hey look at that, how can we make it better", that's about par for the tech world. But ya, the Kinect is quite a bit more impressive then a slightly overpriced usb webcam.
