Just came out, picked it up on Steam for $10.
http://skydriftgame.com/
I've been having a lot of fun with it to be honest, it's a pretty original, really fun racing game that can get pretty exciting. The graphics are quite nice, and the price is really good for what you get. Definitely meant to be played with a controller.

looks like plane crazy
-
So Crimson Skies sans the Zepps dropping loot?
-
Sort of. Crimson Skies was more about dogfighting with weird aircraft, this one's more about racing weird aircraft with guns. It's a blast to play though.
-
Why do people not look for existing threads before they post duplicates....
-
Oops, sorry. I was excited about the game. :D
How do I merge threads I wonder...?
-
Hmph, well, as soon as I get Windows 7 64-bit on my laptop, then I can use more than 2.75 GB of RAM out of my 8GB, and I *might* be able to get more than 5FPS on the darn game and be able to make corners without crashing. :ick: I can now, but it's hard because I have to put the controls in that make the turn before the turn so that by the time the plane turns, it's in the right spot to do so.
-
Good question... no idea though.
Wish this had a demo on PC so I could see if I want to pick it up. $10 aint bad and I'm sure it'll give me some ideas for FS... but I want
to see how well it plays on a keyboard or if I'll have to break out the gamepad.
-
If you've got a gamepad, you should honestly use it IMO. I can't see it being as fun with a keyboard.
EDIT: So does anyone have this game and want to play a few multi matches? there's a few things in the game that can't be unlocked unless you play multi, so I'd like to get them. :)

The only thing that is a bit off with the keyboard is that when you do a knife-edge turn (bank up on one wing and "pull"), you have to hit the left arrow with the left knife edge button (A) or right arrow with right edge button (D), to make your turn. My instinct is to press right arrow + up arrow, which actually makes you try to climb while you are up on one wingtip. It's relatively easy to adjust though, but you'll probably crash a few times if you have flight sim habits like I do.

I imagine there's a control config file somewhere that begs to be hacked just a little...
-
Yes, you have to go to settings, put your controller option as keyboard, then hit the "X" key to customize.
EDIT: Or did you mean not just to assign keys, but to change it so you can actually use full flight-sim like controls? That would indeed be awesome!
-
I meant to edit the key config, if the combo's were being a pain for the knife edge thing....
In other news... Steam has started their Fall Sale on all sorts of stuff...
forget the turkey, buy games!
It lasts longer, doesn't add to your middle girth, and you won't have to smell it coming from your Uncle Ralph.
-
I picked it up... yeah you need a controller to "enjoy it" but it's functional if you like the BF3 WASD + arrows type of controls...
-
So this is like the new Need for Speed Hot Persuit --- Airborne?
-
No it's closer to a cut down Blur with aircraft... or a stripped mario kart that had a baby with crimson skies.

:bump:
On sale for $5 on Steam, if anybody's interested. For about 20 hours as of this post, at least.
