Title: Steam Autumn Sale
Post by: Dragon on November 25, 2011, 03:26:50 pm
So far, my father bought Nexus, an indie strategy game "Star Ruler" and Monkey Island 2: Special edition. All dirt cheap, for about 2 euro. I'll be also getting an entire pack of good sims from Novalogic, and possibly some more great games when they show up in "-75%" category. Steam sales are awesome.  :)

I'm trying my utmost to avoid spending much time looking at the deals, since I still haven't started Christmas shopping, but VVVVVV for all of $1.24 managed to snag me. :p

after finally getting my paypal **** sorted out, i splurged on serious sam hd double pack.

screw the original games.

also, despite having something like $200 availible for these things, i find myself counting every bleeding penny -.-

(over here the equivalent of $200 is nice amount of cash, especially when you're unemployed -.- )

i'm waiting for christmas sales. also i'm half tempted to get DoW2 + expansions, but then i didnt really like DoW2 all that much...

Ah, right, it's indeed in the same pack as flight sims. Really worth getting with 50% off.

Got Shogun 2 for me and my brother, and also got him all the rest of the Total War games that were on Steam. Also bought Crysis and Warhead for myself. And Metro 2033.

Wow, I think I escaped with just the $1.24 this time.  Now to wait until the next sale!

jesus, I still have a backlog from last Christmas' sale.  That said, $2.50 for The Witcher Enhanced Edition was a steal.  Fallout: New Vegas almost got me for $5, but as I am just starting Dragon Age:  origins Ultimate Edition (which I bought last Christmas), I figured I have several hundred hours of gameplay before I'll be ready to play it and by then there might be a GOTY edition with all the DLC included.

I love Steam sales.  I wait an extra 6 months, but my backlog is so big that I rarely play new releases anyway.  Skyrim is probably going to wait for the July 2012 sale.

Just picked up a couple of the classics: Deus Ex and Half-Life. The backlog is big enough as it is anyway, and Winter Break is already earmarked for SS2 (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=53623.msg1566394#msg1566394). :D

i got section 8 because it looked at least mildly interesting and it was $2.50.  it's pretty lame, but worth what i paid for it i guess.  i am rather excited about nexus that i got for the same price, but it might be a while before i dive into that one.

Section 8 is really good at look-and-feel, really bad at gameplay.

My gf got me DX:HR, I got HAWX 2 (lol they ever charged more than $7 for this game?), Portal 2, the Dejoban games pack, and Universe Sandbox. Just before the sale I also got SkyDrift for $10 and Oblivion for $6.24. :)

Section 8 is really good at look-and-feel, really bad at gameplay.

is the sequel any better, or just the same run around and kill things?

single player i mean.  i gather this game is really intended as almots pure multiplayer with a no-story 'campaign' thrown in for giggles (and to sell it to people like me).

The expansion campaign SP is definitely a big improvement from the first game, and there are actually some real neat set-pieces in it (marking a target for an orbital strike and then getting to watch it up-close and personal, getting strafed by an aerospace fighter, stuff like that) but it's about the same length.

And it's still Section 8 so the gameplay isn't stellar, though it is improved.

Eh? I had fun with Section 8. A lot different from your usual Multiplayer FPS these days.

Origin (you know, the EA anti-Steam) is having a Cyber Monday sale right now as well: 50% off and a gift code for $10 in December. #FYI
