anybody got any ideas on how that whole "feel" thing works?
I'm thinking the screen might be coated with some sort of jell and there are "pressure points" or something behind the screen. Although I know nothing about it and I am a total moron.

Isn't it supposed to be a normal resistive touchscreen?

No, but where did you see that the Wii U controller is supposed to do that? A few sources would be nice.

Rumours that, I can't fail but notice, are from may or june. Which was before this year's E3. Where the Wii U (and its specs) was revealed. Hell, in the articles you quoted, "Wii FEEL" is even quoted as a possible name for the blasted thing.
Also, ask yourself: What kind of gameplay enhancements could a gimmick like that offer for the console? There aren't that many applications for it that I can see...
