Title: SERIOUS Site security Issues...
Post by: Crybertrance on December 05, 2011, 06:45:38 am
Hey guys, I was just browsing through the General Discussion sub-forum and I saw a thread named "Free Stuff" which is locked because of SPAM. As it appears to my knowledge, I NEVER posted said thread. This really concerns me because the (apparent) link in that post was even in my "Signature" space. While I'm still trying to find out how the spammers got hold of my username/password, I'm just posting this to warn other Hard-Light'ers about this issue..

Hope this serious issue is resolved.

Sincerely,
Cryberance.

As serious as this is, given that you seem to be the only one affected so far, have you checked your other online accounts to see if similar identity thefts have occurred?

Another thing you should check is whether the IP address used to post the fake post is one you are actually using.

Time to definitely change a password.
Maybe you got spoofed?

scan your rig for spyware/viruses. ive seen situations where a virus could get into your browser steal your passwords, and then spread spam to all your online forum accounts. once your system is clear, change all your passwords.

Thanks guys, cleared my system. Found a few of those NASTY bits of software. Going to change my password right now.
Thanks again!
