Title: Giant Crops From Space?

I was reading something on the internet last year about the chinese sending vegetable/fruit seeds into space and the aforementioned seeds becoming mutated due to cosmic radiation and now they are growing "giant" crops.

 :lol: Sounds like total bull**** to me.

I was wondering if any of you could dig up some reliable sources on this.

FlamingCobra, if you're seriously interested in improving your reputation around here, a good start would be to stay out of GenDisc for a while -- say, at least a month, maybe two. Doing that will greatly help limit the ways in which you can get yourself into trouble. :)

Don't get me wrong, it's possible to post drivel on any board. It's just that on the other boards, it's generally better defined what qualifies as acceptable topics/posts and what doesn't, plus the tolerance level for drivel is considerably lower on the other boards.

The expense of space travel to create enlarged plants is completely and totally unnecessary. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colchicine#Botanical_use)  There is a really simple way of inducing plants to grow to larger sizes than normal. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyploid#Polyploidy_in_plants)

Next time, do your own research.
