I was about to do the missions for my mod beta, but these errors occured (look at pics), is my directory structure right?, (more pics), yes i am using cross over, but that has nothing to do with it, as you can tell from the errors. Bye the way i promise to take this topic down when it is resolved, i hope i am not being blind.
the mod i'am going to possibly make is called "Freespace Legacy" :D

Can I ask you to read this about debug logs (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=56279.0)
-
You are using the retail FRED executable.
-
is there a diffrent one i need to use? if there is, can you give me a link to download it.
-
You need a Freespace Open build to use mods
3.6.12 the most recent released stable build (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=70692.msg1398117#msg1398117)
3.6.14 RC2 the most recent candidate for the next stable build (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=79332.msg1570359#msg1570359)

edit
by the looks of your screen grabs you already have 3.6.12 installed, select it in the wxlauncher you have installed, so you want FS_Open_3_6_12 instead of Freespace. I recommend you download the 3.6.14 files though as they make selecting mods for FRED a lot easier.
-
alright are there 3.6.14 media vps yet?
-
nope
-
i promise to take this topic down when it is resolved
Please don't.
-
I forgot to tell you, i have both 3.6.14 r1 and r2 builds, that you told me to get.
(look at screen capture 2)
-
and are you using either of the exe files or just the retail one?
-
the retail one, the one that came with the good old games download
-
thats the problem, you need to use an FSO build of freespace not retail, the FSO files are replacements of the retail exe not patches
-
i did some searching the only freds other than the one i have are the cvs builds, and they aren't downloading
-
The Windows FSO downloads include FRED, so you will need a Windows download of FSO. The CVS builds are ancient and you should not try to use them.
Since you are using CrossOver and thus are not actually using a Windows machine, you should probably get the version without SSE. For 3.6.12, that means the first option in the list of Windows builds (that is, the build name doesn't include "SSE" or "SSE2"). For 3.6.14 RC2, that means the third option in the list of Windows builds (that is, the build name includes "NO-SSE"). If you want to know what SSE means, the 3.6.12 or 3.6.14 release threads will tell you.
Note that the download server is currently down but should be back up soon (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=79332.msg1574346#msg1574346).

Alright i now have fred open, and these errors occurred :banghead:

Sorry, but those are errors we can't really do anything about, given that FRED was developed as a Windows application, not an Apple one. It's probably some error in the Win32 compatibility layer you are using.
-
I think people should have asked you what operating system you are using before giving you advice. Or you know, actually looking at your screenshots.
FRED2_Open is currently a Windows OS only application.
-
I am running cross over
-
Crossover is not Windows. Crossover does not guarantee or even offer full compatibility to Win32. FRED seems to be one of those cases where it cannot provide adequate support.
-
I will be getting a new mac soon, i will run boot camp and install windows, for those programs that absolutely have to have the windows OS.
-
Oh yes i need to install open gl using cross over. thats probably it!!! :bump::hammer:
