i fixed the issue of capital ships crashing headon always, also found a way to make them fly at insane speeds without getting errors.
learning to fred too to make my very first event ever, the arrival of an sovereign class enterprise, too bad i sort understimated the firepower of that fully operational starbase...
also fighters working better now you can tell from the fly that annoys my defiant at the start of the test. and kudos for valathil for the sexy effects and shadows.
now time to balance stats on the other races ships, to fix music and special effects, and to get help with the mainhall stuff.
Fixed the model issues thanks to help and advice from mjn on the irc :D thanks a lot to him!
And here we have the very first fight of a klingon D7 K'tinga vs a Constitution class. now i m ahvnig problems learning how to modify Fighter and bomber like behavior but is slowly getting there.

And hey got Secondaries to work properly for said capitalships! :D YEY!
http://youtu.be/FmRMvQ9wlrg?hd=1
the sovereign ate the Ktinga as expected and then ate me too D: not so expected...
and... after checking a lot... TOS enterprise Phasers do are blue...

I have to say, well done on pulling this off.
-
yah, the 3 or 4 models i have problems with currently, are the type 9 shuttle, maquis raider, danube shuttle and... some other ship i forgot... the danube cannot be rescaled but works properly, the type 9 shuttle do crashes, the maquis raider cannot be rescaled but works properly, and theo ther ship cannot be rescaled either but i dont remember which one is it. i m still busy setting proper mass and inertia to stuff and damage for things and speed and all sort of tabling things
-
That looks pretty danged awesome. Full Stop. I can't wait to try the Kobayashi Maru scenario on the FS2O engine...
-
Looks great! That video sort of makes it appear that the Constitution class is almost as big as the much much larger Sovereign, though it could just be the angle.
I'd like to recommend a short term goal of releasing a polished-up mod pack with your tabling and the fixed POFs before going on and trying to produce a campaign and all of the other elements that go into a total conversion type of release. Speaking from my experience working on Fate of the Galaxy (and the fact that only one full-fledged FSO total conversion has been released ever), I understand the temptation to try to put together the complete package and totally blow people's minds when you release, but I think you'll have a lot more success and be able to drum up more attention by releasing early and often, especially since all the models are complete at this point.
...Qapla' :D
-
I second regarding the Constitution class size comparison. I think you also need to change the Constitution phaser color, away from blue... that is unless this was one used and highly modified by pirates with other weapons. This mod could benefit from the secondary system controls pioneered by the BP team's cap-ship mission "The Blade Itself".
-
What's wrong with blue?
-
Starfleet phasers are typically yellow.
-
If you're trying to go for period-authentic phaser fire effect for the Constitution, I would suggest you use ST-II as your model, and go for a rapid-fire pulse weapon with a long trail and a swarm tag, as opposed to a beam weapon.
-
Also, for size, the Sovereign should be about 3 times bigger. I found this (http://www.st-minutiae.com/misc/renaissance/tm/images/comparison_starfleet.gif) for size comparisons. The Defiant should be a bit bigger than the Constitution's saucer. Starbase looks good though.
-
I was going to say they went with blue beams for the Constitution's cameo in Enterprise, but that's not much of a recommendation, is it?
-
i m currently using sizes from memory alpha and if the ship isnt there, sizes from memory beta. so i m not sure of what sizes i should use D: sources dont match for the most part

on this issue i m currently having a lot of doubts, i m not sure if i should use the Red bolt spamming madness that came on the new star trek movie, or the old classic blue phasers, thing is, i only have this model of the ship which if i m right is from the new one, also the old one would look sort of plain with the current graphics.

It wasn't really red bolt spamming. A lot of it was point defense, an the rest was phaser on overdrive. You should be able to mimic what the BP team did for the burst fire flak weapons on the UEF ships. And for the Constitution Refit, it should be red... Bright orange red or something.

http://images.wikia.com/memoryalpha/de/images/d/dd/ConstitutionPhaser.jpg
Correct, but that was TOS, not TMS. The Constitution you displayed was the refit from the movies (TMS), so it should be displaying the red, pulse-style phasers from ST2-The Wrath of Khan.

i didnt see that movie! D:
EDIT! just saw it >_> that looks so cool o,o i m so going to table that weapon! O_O yellow pulse phasers of dead!
T-T dont burn me!

You mean TMP, I presume?

You mean TMP, I presume?
oui

For clarification:
TOS = The Original Series
TMS = The Movie Series (typically referring to 1-6, and not Generations and beyond)
TNG = The Next Generation
DS9, Voy, Ent, = no explanation necessary
TMP = The Motion Picture (ST1)
TWOK = The Wrath of Khan
Also, regarding your Klingon ship, I think you should adjust the weapons. With the exception of DS9, they have their blue pulse-type weapons (or perhaps beams) mounted in the nook of the nacelle pylons (TOS+TNG), while torpedoes are both nose-mounted and aft-mounted between the impulse engines. It was in 2 episodes of DS9 where we saw them firing an orange beam weapon from nose point. Presumably, regardless of the era, they all have additional weapon positions elsewhere on the hull, but these should be the primary and most powerful weapons.

actually weapon wise i decided to just take a safe bet and read the canon technical descriptions for each and every single ship, regarding weapon placement and weaponry, it might sound weird, but D7 or ktings or whatever you want to call them, are actually really barely armed, with just 1 phaser, 1 torpedo launcher and 4 disruptors, in fact i took the liberty of adding the D7 an additional torpedo launcher because it seemed to make sense to ahve a weapon in teh rear area.

Trek canon is a strange and amorphous thing. Seriously. On the original series, weapons would change from week to week as they had different authors writing it, and while things settled down a bit for the various enterprises and other "main-character" ships after the motion pictures and next-gen stuff started happening, it's still always about rule-of-cool, speed-of-plot, whatever the VFX guys can make look good. Don't take stuff as hard-and-fast rules, take it as strong guidelines.

True and when i have doubts of what i should do about certain design ... i go here o,o

I always justified the D7 and K'tinga having a light armament because they were battlecruisers, and relied on their oversized photon torpedo launchers to pretty much one shot enemy ships of similar capabilities. The rest of the armament was to deal with lighter ships.
But eh, go ahead with your idea on their armaments. It's your mod.
BTW I can't I barely noticed this mod.
-
A good rule of thumb about Klingon ships is that they like to attack stuff heading so they have their more powerful stuff pointing to the front. Same with Romulans. Blitz tactics, basically. Also they're D7 to the Federation, K'tinga to the Klingons. :P
-
Eh, I knows. Just that for some reason people keep on thinking they're different ships, when the K'tinga is actually the D7 and the D7 is actually the K'tinga and such. Sometimes I just get confused. On another note, I really love the K'tinga/D7. I always thought it was the best TOS Klingon ship.
-
Ktinga or D7 whatever name you prefer, actually have a lot of firepower on those disruptors, since those weapons do more damage than phasers at the cost of speed and aiming.
mod wise, the D7 is using the same weaponry of the series and it will actually hit very hard and often kill constitution class or lesser ships despite not having so many turrets.
but right now i gotta first table all the other klingon starships and then see if i have to forcibly use creative ideas to balance said ships.
Star trek never matches with itself to be honest, scale wise, tech wise etc etc is a ****ing mess, thats why i have been sticking to canon sources for balance.
