Esper.net is currently the target of a DDoS attack (apparently, somebody doesn't like mcbans (http://mcbans.com/)).
-
I'm confused, what does MCBans have to do with EsperNet? Especially since MCBans seems to be up and running just fine right now, and IRC is still down.
Also, in the meantime, we could all just congregate on freenode, same channel names.
-
MCBans had (or have?) a channel on esper, which apparently was the real target. Well, it and the other minecraft-related channels.
Anyway, apocalypse.esper.net is up and running, so you can directly connect to that one.
-
Looks like apocalypse.esper.net also likes to go offline.
-
Aperture is down too, even though it was up. Guess they're really getting hammered on all fronts now.

Unless one has an IPv6 connection. ;7
It's kinda sp00ky, seeing only a very small handful of people in there...
-
Wait wait wait... we've an IRC?
-
Well, there are IRC links under HLP at the top of every forum page. And then there are IRC links in chief1983 and The E's signatures...
-
Well, it seems to be mostly back up again.
-
As far as I can tell, chaos.esper.net is still down. Apocalypse is up though.

*shifts eyes left and right*
I knew that

wait wait wait... How does one get an IPv6 connection?

wait wait wait... How does one get an IPv6 connection?
Step one: get an ISP that is less lousy than mine is and the majority of other U.S. residential providers are.
Step two: You've already got it!
Step two (B): If unable to switch to another ISP, due to geographic, economic, or other issues, then until your provider gets its stuff together and starts prioritizing customer experience over shareholder dividends, you're up the creek without a paddle. Or a boat. Or much in the way of water. No, I'm not bitter. Fraking regional monopolies...

Actually, no, you are not. :)
My ISP doesn't offer IPv6, and the trials for my class of service are who-knows-how-long-away. I went the route of signing up for a tunnel with Hurricane Electric. Add in m0n0wall for the IPv6 side of my local network, and I'm live with a dual stack network. Is it perfect? No, but it works and I can see the dancing turtle at kame.net.
