The last couple of days I've been listening to the Halo 3 ODST soundtrack. It has it's moments but the parts I like the best are the parts that the development team called "film noir" with the low sax and slow melodies. I'm not sure what to call that part of the soundtrack but I'm wondering if there is some music, a group, something out there that might fit the bill. It could be old stuff too... just sort of looking for something with the same flavour.

I think some of the songs for the various Cowboy Bebop OSTs might fit the bill, perhaps Space Lion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKnVaDwUg5s) or Road to the West (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmFAJPArhqM)? Vangelis' work for Bladerunner could be a good contender as well, Bladerunner Blues (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSKlDDKxHFw), Love Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPe52A0k06M&feature=related) or Tales of the Future (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaDdbBNgahI&feature=related) to name a few.

Heh, already beaten to Bebop. The anime series Big O has a bunch of tracks along those lines too.

i don't know the original song you're talking about, but you might like "Grux" by Dave Mattews Band. it's a quick little 2 min or so sax ditty, one of the last by LeRoi before he died.

Interesting stuff... Cowboy Beebop is actually closest to what I was thinking.

....... Why just listen to it when you can watch it? ;7
It's got spaceships!

That first clip from the movie was animated by Itano himself, hence the gratuitous Itano Circuses. :D

Apparently I've stumbled onto something entirely new to me... :)
