Title: Starpoint Gemini
Post by: TrashMan on January 13, 2012, 11:51:27 am
A good game. with space ships. And pew-pews. Kinda like Starfleet Command 3... but better.

Get it.

Sequel is also in the works. Get it too!
Why? Because you might find my name in the credits, that's why!

Oh yes, that must be the best reason to spend money on a game.

It's got my seal of approval. What more do you need?
That pretty much beats anything except God's seal of approval...and Chuck Norris.

How many tile mapped space dicks does the game have?  :p

Just one. It's named the UDA Spoonitania. :D

No, seriously. the game was made on a small budget and it didn't get much marketing, but it's a good game.

Erm... it's a ...fighter class... older one at that. Looks imposing, but runs out of energy real fast. Also, is prone to misfire.

Seeing as i already play SG, SG2 is probably gonna be better, i hope..

The one thing that annoys me is the camera, no freedom

Can't tell you much on that front alas.

I'm currently in the negotiation phase, but as it looks now, unless I say no it's a done deal (me doing some part-time work for them). And I doubt I could tell you much either way.. NDA and stuff...

What I CAN tell you is that it's using a new engine. 3D movement, like in Nexus, far more detailed ships wiht turrets and eye-candy.

I actually submitted several concepts for an expansion for this game. I wasn't able to deliver due to lack of time and assistance from the studio. :( How did you get them to pay you, Trashman? Did you just pick it up as a free hire or did you know someone there? Did they put out a call for someone outside the studio or are you part of the internal team? If you can tell me any of that, I mean. :)
Thanks!

I remember those!

It's too bad you couldn't get those to go through... both the models and the concept art were superb. In any sense, best of luck if you can get the present situation to turn around.

I modded the first game and posted soem images of my other work and was discussing the gaming industry with other poeple on their forum and I offered a model or two of mine for free.
One of the devs picked that up and contacted me.

Interesting designes you got there.

Thanks. I've moved on (unless SP:G contacts me again), I'm talking with a coder at my school about making a newtonian space combat game, but I don't know if that'll turn out, right now it's not looking too good. :( I'd like to make a dogfighting game and sell it for like $10.

Thanks Trashman, that's pretty cool how you got contacted by them. Good luck to you and the team. :) If you know anyone who wants to program and code a space dogfighting game, let me know, I'd be happy to work on a project with them, maybe get some Kickstarter money.

I'd say the biggest problem here would be finances...which is allways a problem with smaller studios.

LGM invested everything in SG2 and money is tight.
Since I'd mod this game anyway, I work for peanuts, so...

They should go on Kickstarter. But they'd need to mix up their creative team, probably hire a few more people in the short term to get them some great promotional art and initial concept work. That'd get them attention.
