Title: Red Alert

I recently joined the forum after appreciating many good works from afar.

That said I have encountered a problem with my most recent str playthrough.

The game skips past all red alert missions with no hiccup

I can go back and play those missions in the tech room but they don't play through the normal campaign

I checked both the fc2 and relevant fs2 files for any explanation and everything looks right

debug shows no attempt to even load said missions. I'm really confused

any help would be appreciated thanks in advance

That's very strange.  Try playing with 3.6.12 instead, and see if you get the same result.

Notably, the FSO codebase has had severe problems with red-alerts for quite a while.  We need to get the code rewritten.

If he's playing with the most recent FSPort and MVPs, the 3.6.12 exec is not going to be friendly.

yeah 3.6.12 doesn't work with str anymore

That's interesting to know that red alerts are having problems, especially as they work with fsport just fine. stranger and stranger. too bad i can't code

Thanks for the awesome first post with the debug log. You did everything right. It's a shame that we couldn't help you solve your problem.

Interestingly enough I was able to revert to 3.6.12 and everything worked ok. so it's definitely a difficulty with .14 RC

Bummer, because I really like some of the newer Features like widescreen huds.

They don't magically work any better in FSPort. You just were lucky while playing it. Red Alerts are horribly broken everywhere they're used.

If I'm remembering things correctly, weren't red alerts initially broken a long time ago, then (relatively) fixed for a while, then apparently broken again?  It's certainly being a real ***** of a feature.

It's basically been broken since retail. We're waiting on the new pilot code to be approved and end up in trunk to fix it, among other things.
