I'm looking for some of that funky rock 'n' roll.
I'm looking for something similar to "It doesn't matter" (SA1) by Crush 40.
Most of the rock I know of is either too soft (classic rock) or too hard (too much like metal) or too fast. Not that I don't like those kinds of rock, it just doesn't fit my current mood.
The only thing similar that I know of is "Crazy Sunshine" by The Pillows. Oh, and "Miseducation" by..... 舞花 / 教えてよ
As a completely different request, I'm also looking for spacey music. Specifically, stuff similar to FS1's briefing room music.

Rise Against.
I don't care if you think it's too hard ;D

Define what you mean by "sonic." With all of the vintage console games you seem to have an interest in, I'm not sure if you're looking for distant-sounding, "new age" music, or music suitable for a platformer game of a certain name. If the latter is the case, you still might get a kick out of Megadriver, despite the volume level.
For "spacey" music, you might consider Faunts' M4, Part 1, the less-famous sibling of the credits music employed in Mass Effect. Or try Vibrasphere. Or use the search function and your imagination.

Ehhh... I've found very few artists/tracks that come close to FS's particular style of dark spacey ambiance. That said, I can still highly recommend the Metroid Prime OSTs, which are ****ing fantastic. For more general artists, try Biosphere, Aes Dana, Carbon Based Lifeforms, Craig Padilla, Brian Eno, just to name a few. Do some googling and youtubing and last.fming or whatever and see what you like.

YES. Winning.

i've never heard of those examples you gave, but just taking a wild stab at what you might be looking for, i'd suggest trying Collective Soul circa 1994-2000 (their first five albums). my personal favorites being Dosage and Blender. be warned, much of their new stuff blows.
and though it may be harder than what you're looking for, i always recommend shinedown. they are hard rock, but not metal. they went a bit more "mainstream" with their current album.

You know, I found that I felt the exact same about Collective Soul as you do... Back when I was an Embry student, some students would have their iTunes libraries linked over the hard-wired network. Someone had a lot of Collective Soul, and I gave it a listen as I really liked what I heard on the radio. Unfortunately, (as you said) much of the actual albums were hit-and-miss.
However (contrary to our mutual consensus), several bands seemed to pop up in rapid succession, and amongst them (Shinedown, Three Days Grace, etc.) seemed to share very similar attributes in sound. I'd agree that Shinedown is probably the best among the choices, but DEAR GOD...
Three Days Grace ****ing blows. They're probably one of the worst bands I've ever listened to on the radio, and I have no idea why they got so much airplay.
...So yeah, don't listen to them.

I put "SA1" in parentheses next to "It Doesn't Matter"
I guess I didn't make my meaning clear. My bad.
I'm looking for stuff similar to Sonic Adventure 1 {Sonic Adventure DX} music. Specifically I'm looking for stuff like Sonic's theme from that game, "It Doesn't Matter" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDpZ9Qg761I) by Crush 40. There were two versions of that song. They had the same lyrics but Sonic Adventure 2 {Sonic Adventure 2 Battle}'s version was way different. And crappier.

I've already downloaded a lot of MP1's soundtrack because it's so ****ing awesome.

Aww............

You do realize all of this stuff can be found on youtube, right?
PS: A big thank you for everyone that has tried to help me so far. I hope that link helps.

yes, but i don't particularly care to go searching for them on your behalf. sorry mate.

Use a youtube downloader. There's a website (http://www.listentoyoutube.com/) right there that's essentially a youtube downloader, but for audio. It requires no software to install. Just toss in youtube video link, the site'll rip the audio from the video, convert to mp3, and give you a download link. Happy finding.

I already know about stuff like this. I use onlinevideoconverter.com
