Ran into this little test on one of the forums where the rest of the amateur astronomer scum and villains gather:
http://www.xrite.com/custom_page.aspx?PageID=77&Lang=en
So I decided to test my eyes to see if I'm full of it when I think a certain telescope eyepiece is giving a slightly warmer tone in comparison to another, stuff like that. Apparently, I'm not :P

To be honest, I did expect a good result, but I was very pleasantly surprised to get a perfect score... Let's see how the rest of the HLP-ers fare :)
-
24. that was better than i thought it would be, since i already know i'm a bit red/green colorblind.
-
I got 7! :D
-
Got a 37. Little disappointed, but also not surprised.
-
I suppose a lot depends on monitor used for this test too. A good quality, calibrated monitor will obviously pick up slight changes in hue better than crappy uncalibrated monitor.
-
181. Hooly crap I'm horrible.

ninja'd. Anyways got a 20 on a CRT... Will try it out again when my brand-new LED screen comes after a week.

This is evil. I know only 16 colors, it makes women crazy when they ask me about clothes color. They walk in in 3 models, i say "red" on all of them and they get mad :(

Regardless of calibration, most monitors should be able to show enough colors to make the colors used in the test different enough to be viable. The test checks the ability to distinguish differences between colors, even if all of them are shifted and displayed incorrectly - the ones in the test should still have enough difference relative to one another for the test to work. Of course, utter crap monitors aren't an advantage here. But anything above the utter crap mark ought to work.

Meh, did better than I thought I did. Especially after the colours seemed to start changing as I looked at them.

I knew I was red/green colour blind, but I didn't think it was this bad!!!! :nervous: :eek2:
EDIT** Have any of you noticed that the highest score for gender and age range is the same for all of us???

8 for me.
Got problems with greens apparently.
-
My left eye's iris is permanently more open than my right eye's iris (in a nut shell, my left eye sees brighter, my right sees darker). Also my right eye got hit with a 355 fps 0.2gram bb a year ago which makes light a lot more diffused in my right eye than ever before. Let's see if colors **** with me tomorrow.

There were two squares on the right side last color section that I could not for the life of me decide the proper order -- whichever way I put them it looked as if it needed to be swapped the other way. D: So finally I guessed and got it right.
Kind of wish this test would display a histogram of results for your age/gender, rather than just a max/min which doesn't really tell you anything. :/

I knew I was pretty good with colors, but I'm a bit surprised that I got the entire thing right. I too had a couple squares that didn't look right to me no matter where I placed them, so some of this was luck.
-
i scored a 4
had some small bit of trouble in the turquoise-violet area.
then again its kinda late for me and i was kind of impatient and rushed through it, so i might try again tomorrow when everything isn't blurry.
-
I got a rock... and twenty points. Which I don't think is too bad, considering that I just woke up and started doing this. I probably would have done better doing the test twice, once for each eye, since mine tend to work against each other on colour.
My troubles were in a cooler regions, regardless.

A CRT is better for this sort of thing.

Thats the highest score the site measured for people from that range. It is very likely it is also the highest score you can get in this set.
Its called deliberetly doing it wrong ;).

I made lots of guesses on every color range, and kinda sped/slopped through it. Maybe I should try the lottery.

FACT: 1 out of 255 women and 1 out of 12 men have some form of color vision deficiency.

That was fun. I had a lot of trouble at the extreme ranges of each color, where they were closer to the ends. The last two or three tiles in each row looked almost identical, so I was forced to guess. Most of the others though, I was able to just switch them back and forth once I had everything in mostly the right spot, and saw what looked less wrong.

Got 11 on my LCD.
Evidently got some problems with greens and blues.

4 here too, problems in the light blue range.

Also, got 26.

Apparently green and blue aren't favourable to me
Then again, I was staring at the screen long enough for everything to mesh itself together regardless
Doesn't help to do these things when you haven't had your morning coffee

Not surprised, I have the saturation on my monitor cranked way down cause its more soothing to the eyes (at least IMO). Plus I CBA'd to actually stare too much XD
-
i once calibrated my monitor, it just made my eyes hurt, so i reset the defaults and it was better.
-
I'm not going to take it. One reason is that my firefox acts like it's about to crash when I visit the page, another being if I find out the result I'm going to be forever paranoid for the rest of my gaming years about all the colours I see.
My eyes are deteriorating fast enough as it is.

I guess I coulda paid more attention...

I've got a few issues with the teals, with some very slight discernment problems in the oranges.
-
I know I got a pretty low score on this when I took it several months ago, but I can't remember what. I'll have to give it another try.
-
0, I suspect this test is quite forgiving.
I don't think so, I redid it it a couple of times to check. If I set it up to what I think looks proper, it scores 0. When I swapped two adjacent squares I got 4, and when I swapped 3 adjacent pairs I got 12.
I notice some folks have gotten scores of 3 but I'm not sure how that happens. Perhaps some parts of the spectrum are weighted more heavily than others?

Or they have different score multipliers for different age groups, maybe..
-
I got a zero.
I found it useful to let you eyes go out of focus while doing them. The tiles that are out of place are easier to spot that way.
-
44. Although I'm not sure if sitting in a dark room staring at the laptop for a few hours already has affected my perception...
-
I scored a 20 on an LCD (wearing glasses). Seem to have some trouble with my greens.

Ok, then I was just lucky. With two pairs of squares I could see no difference between whatsoever, so I just placed those randomly. I think...

hrrrm. i could bet your ass that i was gonna score a helluva lot worse than i did, as i know that i have great trouble discerning between green and blue hues.
also, my eyes are hurting at the time and i can barely keep anything in focus properly...
[edit](http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/4149/clipboard01ev.jpg)
apparently, i have trouble discerning reddish hues and green-yellow (turqoise?) mixes....
