Click at your own risk, it might take a few hours.

Heh, that's a few times my HD space.
-
What's the resolution on that? In terms of pixels / meter2
-
It's life-size. It would be as if your monitor was sitting right on the surface of the moon.
-
my monitor is 55", yours might be 14", the question remains unanswered.
-
And I was trying to exaggerate for comedic effect. :blah:
-
Read in some of the first google responses to the search I made that the resolution was as high as to notice a single jet fighter stationed on the surface with good enough detail or something like that.
edit: here (http://www.china.org.cn/china/2012-02/06/content_24561343.htm)

There's a jet fighter stationed on the moon?!?!?
-
ah, 1 pixel == 7 meters. thanks.

That's as big as my full-quality rips of the blu-rays of the entire run of Battlestar... Wow.
-
I'm tempted to download it
Afterall, pssh. 800GB has got nothing on my 2TB
-
If anybody is able to download it, part of it, or a smaller (say, <50GB) version, it would be a fantastic reference or source for planet textures.
-
FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu now I REALLY wanna buy that 3TB drive I was ogling the other day.
-
Made up my mind
Downloading this ****
And by request, I will make it smaller
However, I'm going to bed, will start tomorrow
-
can you split the image?, I would like to have a piece of it on full rez.
-
This is nothing but Chinese propaganda to make you buy more hard drives made in China :P
-
-
cant they do like other space agencies and let you download it in sections?
also does this come with heightmaps?

Don't think so, just plain images AFAIK.
-
Plain images + Crazybump = Awesome
By the way, HOW THE DEVIL DO I DOWNLOAD I CAN'T UNDERSTAND ****
I mean, I expected some save to computer thing, not google maps of the moon...
And I'm randomly clicking things now hoping I'll get some English... but nooo...
30/20 looked promising... and there was a pop up
But I didn't understand it
-
I know, I was wondering the same thing myself, I'm not even sure it can be downloaded. I just got the number from here http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2012-02/06/content_14544522.htm
Also unrelated, but this (http://www.china.org.cn/china/2012-02/08/content_24582166.htm).
-
I was gonna try but realized it would be (fun to see) but overall a waste of space. I got a 500gig external HDD and a 500 gig HDD. I could Just finish the DL.
-
I wonder if Google will try to add it to their Google Maps: Moon?
-
If so I can't wait to see what their diving directions to the Sea of Tranquility look like. :p
