Several things:

1. How do you make debris? Must each debris tile be glued to a loc light? Do all of them have to be glued together? What about their axes. Were do they have to be placed in the 3D program (where they should go (the tail for the tail part, and so on) or in the center (0.0.0. coordinates?).

2. I fixed the whole hull of the Iowa. I tested the model and a strange thing happens:
When it just flies or stands still evrything is O.K.
When it attacks another capship, the game freezes (as soon as it starts attacking, sometimes after it fires a few shots (beam)).
A few times the turrets started to act really sterange - they all moved togethar as one object  - rotated and mopved around!

3. Dock points wont work without the paths, right?

4. 99% of all times I try to convert the model PCS gives me the Illegal operation window (most of the time I just move it aside and can continue to work, but sometimes it freezes). Does anyone know why.

I think question 4 might be the explaination for question 2. Beyond that I`m unable to help. I wouldn`t mind an explaination for question 1 since I`ve just finished making the debris for my pirate dropship and I`m in the same boat as you.

debries need coords(axis) in their own center (well where you want them to rotate) and should be placed in the part of the ship they replace.
you glue a light to them and name them debris[xx]. xx= a number or letter (like a or b - I have never used numbers) to convert in PCS.
all debris/light combos should be glued to the hull speratly (i do it just before the LODs)

is the illegal op window is about generate bsp? if so, then that means

a) PCS is being a ***** (had that happen to me, wouldn't convert for me, but I e-mailed it to wildlife, and it converted fine)

b) You have intersecting faces. That is the most common problem for me
